Hi Glenn Any chance are you familiar with this machine? If so is it a good cutter?I'm looking to do production work so 30" material only is not really a problem. Was just hoping it would go down to 15".The price it is being sold for is very cheap, plus a parts machine to boot.

I used to have one. It just has the fixed size of 30". Yes, its a very good machine. The problem you may have is that it is designed for Gerber's stuff. You are going to need some 3rd party hardware if you intend to use a PC and another program to drive it.

What type of hardware? You just lost me.I have a PC and I use corel draw 10 with Anaplot as a bridge for cutting.I looked and anaplot has the 750 drivers with it.Would this work? Thanks again Steve

You need more than just the drivers. You will need a "board" to put into your pc so that you can run the proper cable to the plotter. The S-750 is an old plotter and was designed to be run on Gerber's console system like the Sprint. It wasn't designed as an open architecture system like today's plotters.

I just bought a 4B, a S-750 and the A/B switcher box for $300. I then bought the uni-link card for the 4b for $350 which hooks it to my PC. They both work great. So for $650 I got a 15" and 30". I think it was a pretty good deal.

I also have an S/750 and Sprint 2 with switchbox and Link module in the Sprint.
The S/750 were "dumb" plotters relying on the lettering machines like 4B's and Sprints to drive them.
I was under the impression you could get an S/750 converted to a smart unit with a control panel, and drive it independantly of a sprint or 4B. I don't know what the cost would be today.
I contemplated it here at one time as i wanted to be able to use both at the same time.
The S/750 is VERY slow, slower than a 15" Sprint. I use them today just for pouncing and they are great for that.
The rubber on the 750 drum seems to go out of shape after a few years....not that you notice it to look at, but when you put weights on for different materials it would not cut thru in some places and cut thru the backing paper in other areas of the SAME plot. I bought the little shoe that you can fit to the blade, and thats great if you run the same material all the time but you have to reset for relective or change blades for sandblast, which means keeping more bladeholders.
I just found for me that I wasted material, it took hours to cut small text, and then was a pain to weed.
I bought a Summa T750 18 months ago which is an amazing machine. I love my old Gerber plotters too and wouldn't get rid of them.....but times are a changing!
