Does anyone have a 100, 200 or 300 cutter that also cuts fabric? I would like to have any input on these cutters. I will also be cutting vinyl with this cutter. Any help would be very much appreciated. [Smile]

Cynthia, I thought I would take a shot at your question since there are no other responses.

The model numbers you mention are not familiar.

If you are considering buying an old Ioline, go really slow.

The original Ioline Vinyl cutters were basically paper plotters with knives installed. They did not hold up well, and were mostly taken out of service. The very newest Iolines are solid cutters. We had a Super 88 at our store, and it was a brick. If I were looking for a solid used machine, I would be looking at a Graphtec, Summa, and maybe Gerber. These machines have the reputation for long life with good cutting qualities.

The real point of this post is, stay away from old Ioline cutters. IMO, of course. Vic G

"Maybe Gerber" in the context that I don't know anything about Gerber cutters. "Maybe Gerber" in the context that I have owned 2 Edges and 2 Gerber Routers and respect the company.

Jon, if you first hand knowlege on old Gerber cutters, please weigh in. Vic G

Vic:

Glad to see that friendly smile is still on your face. It only just dawned on me that we haven't traded posts or e-mails before and you might have misconstrued my post.

Very glad you didn't!

Ah, yes...Gerber Plotters...but where to begin?

Start with gerberscientific.com. This is the parent company's site and is worth a thorough browsing. Lots of interesting stuff...For example -- just below the signmaking equipment and supplies link -- you will find a link for apparel cutting technology. Lots of fascinating stuff to click on re routers, mass customization, etc, as well.

Highly recommended!

Have fun!

Gerber plotters....... A love/hate relationship unlike any I've ever had. When our plotters are working properly (which is a great majority of the time)they are to die for. Fortunately when they do have trouble Gerber's Tech. support is pretty good.

The only gripe I've ever had about Gerber's products is the amount of buggy-ness that generally acompanies their new technologies. Our Odyssey, for example, was the most tempermental @#$!&@!! plotter I've ever had the displeasure of opperating untill Gerber got their firmware in order. It's a gem now [Big Grin] .

I have to agree. Once Gerber got the firmware settled for my Odyssey, its been pure love.

And, Jon is right about Gerber. They have some of the neatest equipment for cutting fabric.

I already have an Envision 375 but I didn't know that Gerber had a cutter for fabric. Thanks so much for the information.
