Dave has asked my help in investigating colour laser printers. I don't know much about them, nor anyone who's used one so I thought I'd toss this question out here.

Anyone have experience with them?
Any recommendations of one over another?
Quality, performance, cost etc.

Any info provided on them would be much appreciated by us.

I'm sitting about 18" from a Xerox DocuColor 4 LP. It works great. Trouble with the Post Scripts in XP have yet to be worked out.

Laser printers have come a long way. I had a Tektronix 740 and now have a Tektronix 780. Both of these printers are wonderful. The 780 prints up to tabloid size where the 740 was up to legal size. If you want a sample of a print e-mail me a corel file and I'll mail the print back to you.

I'm looking at a new one now. I'm leaning towards a xerox 7700. 12" x 18" capacity and 22 cmp (color). The spec says it will print 110 lb index card which is heavy enough for business cards. I've sent hi temp vinyl samples to xerox to be printed with the 7700 and if they print alright thats the machine I'll buy

Tony, I appreciate the offer, I'll ask Dave if he feels it's necessary.
Very nice of you!

I copied a link a while back that someone else had posted here. It some sort of deal where if you agreed to purchase the supplies and do a minimum number of prints per month.

The printer Was FREE.

I think depending on the volume your looking at it may be worth looking at.

Hope This Helps! Free Printers

Eric, it was Tectronics if I'm not mistaken. I looked into it once a couple years back and the minumum was pretty high, like $300-$500/mo in supplies as I recall...That's a pile of printing. There was no way I could utilize it without being far more into brochures or catalogs for my clients. Now I see color lasers in the under $3000 range that has got me thinking about it again. That puts it more into the realm of possibility for in house use and the occasional print run for hire. I didn't think there was much choice in that range though, one or two machines... I'm only going on things I saw at my local Staples Office Supply. What are the price ranges for the models you're talking about Nettie??
