I've notices that many of you use Corel Draw. I've been using it for years, but I've notices that when I fit text to a curve it always distorts the text. Any suggestions? Maybe a plug-in somewhere?

By the way I bought SignTools 3 and it is a very handy Corel Plug-in.

Garrick, Most, if not all of what you speak of is because the line that you are trying to fit text to, is to short.. lengthen it and try again... There is usually only slight distortioning until you get a path tighter than a circle. When you experience this, you must convert to curves and realign by object. Jack

Garrick, forget fitting text to curves, use the envelope tool instead. It's easier to control the appearance of letters.

I type my text, draw a circle, then use the envelope tool to match the text to the circle. This way is faster than trying to fit it by the time you dink around with all the options trying to make it look right.

Mike has it right! Envelope baby, yeaaah! The problem with the fit text to path deal is that you can't distort the text first...if you stretch it out and THEN try to fit text to path...WATCHOUT! Your text will get distorted beyond belief.

At least this is the case with CD version 7....I haven't made it up to the new versions yet.

Hi, Garrick,

I have Corel 4,5 and 8, and rarely use them, so I am a litle fuzzy on remembering how they work.

If I remember correctly, text to an oval will get distorted towards the "ends"-- the end letters look like they are trying to fall off. To a circle-- it needs to be a good-sized circle with a fairly long radius or the letters will crunch for want of a better term.

Hope this helps.

I use this function all the time in both 8 and 9 and no problems here. Just as it has been said, make your curve bigger than you need ans also use the functions that appear in the top property ber once you have fitted the text to path and tha last thing is once happy with the result be sure to convert the text to curves as i have noticed that if you don't and you reopen that file later then the text can go weird.

i use corel 7.467 this is the best corel....and i fit text to path with no problem. you can not stretch or lengthen the word untill after you fit to text or it will go bonkers. also using the envelope does not shape the verticle of the letters to the oval, only does the the horizontal base and tops......do one each way and you will see what iam saying.
