Hi all, the time is drawing near, 16 hours and 40 minutes till the Kookaburra tests her wings for the first time. Mum picked her up from Mooloolaba (That is where the University is) this morning and by now they will be in Brisbane. Staying there overnight with rellies, and lining up for launching the big bird at 12 noon on Monday 4th.
Now the Kookaburra is a native Oz bird and a flight like this is no problem, only takes an hour and a bit to fly from Downunder to Upover. ETA Los Angeles 1:20 pm Monday 4th March. Unfortunatetly the unique atmospheric conditions existing above Upover land are not conductive to sustaining the same momentum as is possible in her native habitant and surrounding waterways. ETA Dallas/Fort Worth Terminal B QF3057 is 6:43pm. Over 5 hours.
Nationalistic cultural rivalry is a fascinating subject so to soothe the internanional sensibilities I must relate the following TRUE BLOODY STORY:-
A Texas farmer goes to Australia for a vacation. There he meets an Aussie farmer and gets talking. The Aussie shows off his big wheat field and the Texan says, "Oh! We have wheat fields that are at least twice as large."
Then they walk around the ranch a little, and the Aussie shows off his herd of cattle. The Texan immediately says, "We have longhorns that are at least twice as large as your cows."
The conversation has really gone south when the Texan sees a herd of kangaroos hopping through the field. He asks, "And what the heck are those?"
The Aussie replies with an incredulous look, "Don't you have any grasshoppers in Texas?"
Oh, stone the crows, now we've started it !!!!! Have Fun.

Just one note....if everyTHing was not so big here...why does Katie have to fly into our airport?...
CAUSE IT'S HUGE!
Monte, if you have a couple of hours to burn, I invite ya down to our facility. We are about 20 minutes south of the airport...so give me a hollar if you can make it and I will treat ya to a good steak. I think you might find it interesting. I will also know tomorrow if we will make the party at your place. The daughter has classes friday....so we shall see!

Midnight here and the Kook has been flying for 12 hours, I think there is a part of me in the air with her, kinda feels that way. I will be checking the bullboard, chat and my email frequently for a while to keep tabs on the happenings over there. What a marvellous thing this internet is, you really can feel a part of what is happening. Katie should be able to help you with any puter problems, she is pretty savy at setting things up Monte. I guess you will be off driving to Dallas this afternoon, so have a good trip. Will you be taking Robert up on the Texas steak, yumm sounds good. Kate will probably think it is early afternoon "body time" so should be interesting. I will be watching the net for any news when she arrives. Hope you enjoy her company, I have for 17 years!

Anyway Katie, don't spend all your time on computers! And make sure you pick up a brush at the meets and bring home some neat panels:)

I wouldn't worry about Katie picking up a brush. She will be around some of the best brushes anywhere. The hard thing will be putting the brush down for less important things like to eat or sleep. I wish I was going.
