had to format c drive and lost a program for removing the white space from a photoshop image. I think it was called white out. Does anyone have it? thanks gene

Never heard of that, but if you double click the background layer in your layers palette, you can re-name as layer zero. Then you can select white background & hit delete for a transparent background that could have any new BG pasted behind it. Or you could then pull down the Help menu for "export transport image wizard" which will auto-trace the contour, create a mask, & export as an EPS which could be opened in illustrator (among others) and used in vector graphics without the white box that would usually come in with any rastor image.
That may not solve your needs, but sounded like it might.
