Thats a smoker Barry, I have built all of my own machines and just added a third station, its an AMD Athalon (faster than pentium by benchmark stanards)1.8 Mghz with a Gig of Ram and burner blah, blah. But the best part of this new machine is that I installed two 120 Gig hard drives with Raid Control. Thats a lot of drive but it works like this... Windows 2000 sees only one drive and every time I save a file it goes to both drives at the same time with out any time loss, instant backup. I then back up to a networked machine in my house (100 ft away from the shop) once a week. It feels pretty good knowing I will not likely loose any info.
Enjoy your new toy!

Brian,

How did you configure the Raid array?. Where'd you get it ?? Is it a scsi raid?? What software is it using ??
I've been looking to put a 4 drive Riad on my file server but all of the solutions I've looked at are (sofar) not within my budget(~$1K cdn).

Thanks,

Mike

OK OK OK!!!!! Enough of this bragging stuff!!!!

Ya should all be ashamed of making other folks feel like they are "disabled"!!!!!!!!!! [Wink] [Wink]

Personally, I would like to put a more positive spin on the topic.

How the heck do people keep their keyboards clean? [Confused] [Confused]

I know a keyboard only costs about $15 (that would be about 50cents US) BUT how do ya keep it clean???

I know from my many evenings of beer/rum influensed typing that I am a fairly proficient typist (Yeah right!!!!) but why does my keboard always look "dirty"? (don't answer that Joe and Si and Steve and anyone else that is a perv!!!!!!!!!!! [Smile] )

Do you "clean/pristine" keyboard jockies never actually use a keyboard? Or do ya wear latex gloves??

[Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

I am being serious here...this is a question that I am sure, has crossed the minds of other keyboard users!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL

Well I used this mother board -

MSI K7T266 Pro - Raid

and this hard drive -

Western Digital 120 GB 8 MB Cache
- 7200 RPM Ultra ATA/100

I get all of the parts from multiwave direct
the motherboard came with the promise ide raid controller which was pretty easy to setup.

Do you have any idea how long it takes to format 240 Gigs of hard drive? I dont either, I went to bed. It made it to 2% after about 15 mintues though...
