I'm looking for the instructions to make a whirlygig that has a man chopping wood.

It has moving parts, so when the wind blows the little man chops wood.

Thanks for your help!
A:)

.....firewood on your mind, Adrienne?

I have one of a guy chopping off a chicken's head, but none just chopping wood, sorry. ha ha . Actually, I bet you can find it on the 'net - I had some outfit got me on their mailing list and sent me plans and sales hype for years and that was one of the ones they had.

Hi Adrienne,

I found some plans for a whirlygig at the New Yankee Workshop site.

Norm is running wood through a table saw but it might give you a start.

Check er out.

Adrienne,

I just typed in the word "whirlygigs" on the Amazon site, and some books popped up.
Don't know if I'll be doing this right ... but here's the page (hopefully).
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/104-6095309-6831104
Don't know if they'll have what you're after, but if you do find something there, ... take the "buy used" option. I've bought used thru Amazon before, and the books have arrived in mint condition. The rating on their conditions there have proved to be honest.

Have bought used CD's thru them too.

Also, there is a very cool artsy shop around here that has some very unique whirlygigs for sale outside their gallery. This shop in general, is terrific for inspiring ideas. If you are ever this way, we'll have to take a visit there.

Me again.

My link doesn't seem to get ya there.
[Frown]

If you go to Amazon, pick books, and type "Whirlygigs" in the search ... it'll show up.

Sorry my shortcut didn't work.

I took pictures of these last summer at "Art Fair on the Square" in Madison, WI. I did not get the name of these folks, but I thought that these were SO creative that I would take a picture or two for inspiration. Notice the bird's beak.

Hi--

I have a book here with many plans in it that was a big inspiration for me--"Whirligigs & Weathervanes" by David Schoonmaker published by Sterling/Lark books. You could maybe get it at the library? Here's the ID #= ISBN 0-8069-8364-7 1. wooden toy making 2. whirligigs 3. weathervanes

Has plans for "soul of the woodworker", "model T tune-up" and my favorite--"Elvis's Pelvis", plus tons more!!

I have a catalog from Meisel Hardware Specialties and they show some whirlygig plans, but not the man chopping wood. Their web site might have it. Meisel Wood Hobby
