Steve, we bought a Safety Speed in about 1990. We've managed to burn out two motors from then to now, but the saw is a name brand commercial saw, and parts are easily available.

It was fairly expensive, but it is built to last a long time.

Can't really comment on any other options except to say, check ebay from time to time. They do pop up occasionally. Vic G

Hi Steve,
For low volume production I would check out Milwaukee it’s a nice little unit, plus you can switch over to a router. I thought I heard Porter-Cable came out with one?
High volume production Holz-her great machine! $$$$ I’ve used both of them.

good luck
Don

I bought one last summer, I ended up with a Milwaukee 6480. Great saw ... I don't know how I managed without it.

I bought a Saw Trax a year ago. I really liked the fact that it takes a standard "skill" type saw with standard blades. They make a nice compact model for smaller shops too. I had the room so bought a larger model. It came pre assembled except for the extensions, and it was cutting dead on right out of the crate.

The change over to ripping is slick, fast, and accurate. They also have router plate and knife cutting attachments available.
