Misspeled.......Missspelld.......Mispeld.....Spelled it wrong.....there. I usually proof read my stuff but....

Did an 8x3 two sided banner with 28 words... that's right, words per side. It was for the same client who ordered the 4x8 with 50 words.
Same as before there was absolutely no way of talking him out of it and like the 4x8, you can't read it. It's off the state right of way and the traffic runs about 60mph.
It says "Thanks" in 10'' letters. and the rest ended up about 3''.

Anyway, I finished it about 7:00pm and then delivered it on the way home. As I pulled into the driveway, my headlights came to rest on his bumpersticker: Bush/Chen(n)ey.
RATS! I had added an extra "n"

I wizzed by it this morning on my way to work.
All you can read is "Thanks".

I won't say nothin' if you won't.

Bummer.....but I know the feeling....in fact....I am almost sure we ALL know the feeling.

Mine was a 4x8 advertising an auto body shop. In a panel on the bottom read: Behind R-Corer Grocery...Yep...left out the "N". Should have read "Behind R-Corner Grocery"
I made the pattern, put it on the board, and lettered it....never once catching my mistake. A customer came in the shop for his sign and asked "Hey...where is R-Corer Grocery?" "Gulp!!" Oh-well, lesson learned. I had to paint out the panel and re-letter it.

I did a panel for a lit sign once. Fraternal Order of Police, Kentucky Chapter 003.
Cept'n I left out the "T" in chapter. It was now CHAPER. Thing is, it took the people I did it for, a couple of weeks to notice. It's a good laugh now, but embarrassing then. hee hee.

How ironic it is that signmakers can't spell.
Once I forgot to pinstripe a car that I already got paid for and still haven't done it, its been a year.......

Not a mispelling, but we did a sign recently that said:

WE TAKE DELIVERIES IN THE REAR

I realized what I thought it said, but got such a kick out of it, I didn't say anything... Still makes me laugh.

Back in the 50's when I was still an apprentice, we painted a great big sign on a wooden fence for a junkyard. It read "We buy all kinds of scrap". It was painted about a week when some kids turned the boards over on the "S" in "scrap".
