Good Morning,

Monday morning I tried to run a job that we ran last thursday, When I sent the job to the Edge ( which is an Edge2) I receieved an error message

" 1284 Driver does not support the requested interface mode (29) line 126 "

I've called Gerber and so far they have not come up with an answer, I will state that my PC parallell port is set to ECP rquired for the Edge 2. I hooked up my laptop to the Edge yesterday and ran the file from my laptop with no problem.

So that rules out the cable, the file and the Edge as being the problem.

Has anyone ever had this problem? If you di how did you rectify it?

Bob,

I wonder if a driver has become corrupted. Have you tried uninstalling Omega, defrag the HD, run the CleanSys program, and then reinstall Omega, open the problem file, click copy, paste it to a new file, save, and then try running it?

Sometimes you just have to uninstall and reinstall the program because it gets corrupted. If you uninstall you have to remove the .ini file manually.

After two years without a burp, our Graphics Advantage woke up on Monday with dementia. Overwriting what was there did not fix the problem. Uninstalling and reinstalling (with ini removed manually) solved the problem.

This is not unique to Gerber. The prom in our cutter sometimes gets confused and has to be reset. This is going to sound crazy, but I think atomic particles in the solar wind sometimes crash into the magnetic spots on the hard drive. Vic G

Glenn & Victor,

That will be on my list of things to try tomorrow.
I was waiting untill I heard back from gerber before I attempted a lengthy software altering. Being 2 days now that I have had to reroute all my files through my laptop to output to the edge has begining to be a pain.

We have a good size job to run tomorrow or thursday the latest, so tomorrow morn. I will test the port with a printer, then I iwll uninstall Omega and reinstall.

I will keep you guys updated to what evolves.

Unfortunately, It doesn't rule out your cable. I had a similar problem when we first got our edge 2. Ran fine from a laptop and errored out from the desktop. Changed cable to a shorter one and have never seen the error since. Printer ports sometimes have different amounts of power. One computer may not put out as much juice and may not be able to use as long a cable as another computer.
