Just wondering if it was worth it and if so any recommendation as to who does it? I've got 4 or 5 blades sitting here, didn't know if I should throw them away or get them sharpened.

In my case, 4 blades sharpened will be the cost of 1 new. I will continue to buy new blades and sharpen the ones I have. There are 2 sources 1 one each end of the country. Check blade sharpening in the merchant section.

Not as a put down....as I'm sure we all try to save and work more efficiently....however, I have never sharpened plotter blades, I just think its always so much easier to ring order a 5-pack and work on. Knowing what I am using and that all I have to think about is the right pressure for the job. I think of that cost, the same as all the other "fixed" costs here....am I missing something??
Been like that with my old Gerber plotters and the same with the Summa T750.

OP I wondered that myself, anyone have input there? Thanks Chris, I saw Tim's ad in Signcraft, that's why this post was started. Henry, it's not really the cost issue here, started out as a curiousity, but if I can get 5 blades sharpened for the price of one new one and they perform the same, then why not?

For my Graphtec a Graphtec blade usually lasts about a year, then I change it even if it still cuts good. There are aftermarket blade manufacturers and re sharpeners. Those blades last a couple months for me.

We don't recommend third-party blades. They may be ok, and our machines make provisions for them, but most users find that performance suffers a bit. hk

I've have some blades sharpened by Tim Peterson in Daytona. When I received them back he sent a hand written note detailing their condition when he received them and an honest evaluation of the results. Each blade lasted several months and was well worth the price of resharpening.

Ditto to what Santo said. I had a half dozen sharpened, and I am still using the first resharpened one. It’s been a few months. Though I don’t cut every day... My .02
