Hi to one and all! I need a source for identifing
plants and trees. You've all seen them. Those little 3"x9" signs stuck in the ground next to some bizarre tree or plant with some latin name attached! Any information would be appreciated.

PS - Its great to be a resident. Finally got around to it.

Keith, I have gotten a few e-mails over the past week wanting these signs. For a private estate, 30-100 exotic plants. They want the engraved brass tags on a stainless steel stake ((for two bucks each)). Be careful of what you bid on.

Oh, I forgot .. . . a few years ago I did a job for the local Middle School nature walk. I used 3' tall 4" x 6" P/T posts cut at a 30 degree angle on top with a engraved plastic tag affixed with brass nails. The posts were set in the ground 18". Not real pricey. And the kids took real pride in maintaining "their" nature walk.

Keith,

If you are looking for a resource to help identify stuff I suggest the Audubon Society field guides. I have about 12 of them. Everything from birds to flowers and snakes and spiders. Most bookstores carry them and if not could order them. Good luck!

Thanks Steve. Actually I need the stakes and
plaques to put 'copy' on them. I'm making headway
with Glenn's post. Any other sources???
Thanks, Keith

Keith;

If routed wood plaques (Red Cedar or White Cedar) with painted letters would be acceptable then I can help. I just need a list of the names.

U supply the stakes.

Most states will have a "Master Gardener" program
you might have luck with.
I would think the customer oredering the work would know what they needed rather than have the sign maker do all the reasearch!
UNLESS... you getting paid for it.
Hope this helps
