Rob Yes I am dabbling away agt it....but like stephen have found that the matt spray over it disolves it and makes it look shabby and patchy.... would love to know the brand of chalk your using.... regards Alan

Disclaimer: I do NOT profess to be an expert chalkboard artist. Now the info from my limited experience... I've used Aquatect in the past to seal chalkboards, both my own and others that I've subbied out. The trick I found is to build it up in numerous sprayed mist coats. You dont want any gloss to the finish (not that you're going to get a gloss finish from Aquatect) so there is no need to put it down real wet anyway. The colours will still lose a little chroma/vibrancy but won't "wash out" like I've seen happen with other sealers. Got any other sealers that work better Rob? I'd love to find a better way if there is such an thing. HTH David

I've done quite a lot of chalkboards, mainly for cafes restaurants and food shops, I've not been using stick chalk, but liquid chalk, which comes in jumbo markers with a chisel edge felt tip. They come in day glo fluorescent colours, and I get mine from my local art supply shop. They are a bit more permanent than chalk in that they won't rub off if you brush against them. They clean off with ammonia.

I guess I should re-read your original post huh, musta skimmed some of it, oh well my response seemed appropriate at the time. Rob, could you shed some light on the post Linda Sliver Igle posted about auto painting plz? I admit to being an old dog loath to learning new tricks, but would appreciate a local take on methods and available paints etc. David

I had the perfect pastel chalks and gave them to my oldest daughter at Christmas. I did do a beach scene with a maple tree on it, (had to use the full spectrum of colors, and had only one sheet in the giant sketch pad hehehe.) I can send that with the pics of the job that I'm waiting on to be okayed...if' ya wish.

I think RobC did a fabulous job with the step by step he created! I was hoping we'd be covered up in posts showing off attempts right and left! It's too much fun and easy as well! Are there any brave souls that would care to post their skills?
I've been making some interesting boards for an industrial client.
Wide format print on vinyl, applied to thin galvanized steel (.050) mounted on gator foam (for thickness and rigidity), plastic edged, and laminated with 7 mil dry erase film.
Works with both dry erase markers and magnetic tags (which I also supply)
