has anyone had a problem with goldleaf peeling off the nose of a 2002 international ? everything else on this job is fine. the nose seems to be made of some type of plastic , not fiberglass.

Alan,

Are you talking about real Gold leaf or Sign Gold Vinyl?

A lot of the big trucks use composite plastic on the hoods and grilles ( the painted ones of course ) All of these parts will be painted with the same paint as the cab. Whats peeling, just the leaf? Or is the rest of the lettering turning loose too? If everything on the hood is peeling, it's contamination of some sort, ya know like some of that lovely new wax that's hell to get off yet doesn't make the One Shot crawl I run into a lot of brand new trucks that have repair paint work done at either the factory or the dealer and no telling just what they do to them at times.

If it's just the gold peeling, is the gold coming off the size or is the size coming off the truck with the gold? If the size is staying on the truck and the gold is coming loose from that, the window got away from you, the hood being a differnt material than the rest of the truck probably set up quicker. I used to run into that sort of thing doing sprint cars, fiberglass hood, plastic tanks, aluminum wings.ughhhhhh!!!!

hey thanks for the impute , bob it's paint ,i'm alergic to vinyl .geo. i think your right ,it must have dryed faster on the hood , the size remained in tack, i resized it & laid down some more gold ,cleared it ,waiting for it to dry so i can stripe the edge .life is just full of surprise.i just finished an article on gold leaf and how NOT to do it , for sign bus. everything that could go wrong did go wrong ,hope you get a laugh out of it . thanks

If ya got some extra time AJ, download mirC by following the directions right here in Letterville.

We got a hell of a crew that joins in most evenings and late night.

As far as living here on the left coast, it not the kind of money I'm used to, but at least the weather is!
