I always used bronze powder and mixed it with a compatible clear. I checked out the Web site for the American Bronze Powder Co. (under construction) http://www.usbronze.com Do a "bronze powder" search in any search engine and you'll get more information than you care to read.

if you want it to really look alot like brass & you are interested in the bronzing powders you can always lay oil size then dust with bronzing powders once the gold leaf size has tacked .this is an old snappers trick used mostly with aluminum powders on windows. It also can be done with good grade bronzing powders to give a "cheapie" gold leaf effect.as with any bronzing powders or dutch leaf it will turn green in a short period but then so will brass.
Oh yea,... read the label on the powders tha stuff is toxic so wear a mask,...otherwise you'll spend the rest of the day with the taste of copper or whatever metal that is used & believe me it don't leave a good taste in your mouth.
