Anyone have experience in designing racing t-shirts and interesed in doing so on a free-lance basis?
We letter a lot of race cars every year and most buy t-shirts with their cars and sponsors on. I have a place I can get them printed but don't have the time or skills to design. Any ideas?

Yeah, I do that. I have an Edge too, & can give you color separations for burning screens. I'm doing one right now. I do the artwork on the side for extra $ and pay my boss for the color separations. I can send you a sample of the one I'm doin' now, but it won't be finished till next week. Normally lead-time is two weeks. I love racin'!

Jerry, I'm still doing most of it by hand with little help with the computer. What software are you using and what process do you use to copy the car into your program. Do you redraw and then add the color.....I'm definately looking for an easire way.

I get the art down by hand in black & white, scan & color in Omega. It's all I have! I keep in mind how I might cheat with outlines, shadows etc. while designing. I do as little as possible by hand. I know there has to be some stock racecar clipart out there somewhere, and would love to find it. racecar spelled backwords is RACECAR.

Thanks Jerry, I too have been doing race car lettering and artwork for about 20 years and when possible use Corel and Photoshop but always looking for an easier way. Great to hear from someone doing the same stuff once in a while and hearing their frustrations and what works for them.....

I have done a few racecar shirt designs, mostly for the race teams, so the cars are usually based on photos of particular cars. Most of the ones I have done are 4-6 color starting with hand-drawn line art of the cars, scanned in, colored and separated. I have been tinkering with mor "photo-type" projects using 4-color process.
I am always interested in "freelance" art, as well as offering up-to 8 color screening in-house. If interested, I can e-mail some sample designs.
