Yep, we have the "What did you do?". Real good post Cher! Now how about "What are you doing"? Not just the fun creative stuff, but what eats up the time.

Raising 2 sons and trying to keep up with them takes as much as my full time job as Engineering Tech.
I'm 3 on-line classes away from finishing my curriculum for a Information Systems Degree. I then get to take a couple of art related courses to fill out my Humanities requirements. Those will not be on-line.
I take on as many sign related jobs as possible. I'm somewhat limited by the size of my shop, 12 x 20.
And I check in on this board at least 6 times a day.
And wait for the day, I can get another motorcycle. My choice-- look at the 71 Ambo here. http://inet-rendezvous.com/MGNOC/class.html I'm only $3495 away.
Oh yeah, I forgot the other 3 things, I have to remember to do.
Practice lettering
Practice pinstriping
Practice airbrushing

Did you know that when editing your mispellings, for the second time and third times, you can remove the 1st and 2nd editing remarks in order to help hide being a dumb-ass.

Hi Santo
My 'extra' time is spent taking and picking up my kids. Instead of 'SignsByCheryl' written on my truck..it should be 'Mom's Taxi'! But seriously...I love being a Mom best of all.
Lately ...gardening also...every chance I get. Yes, I am pushing spring along. I love to garden. I am trading signs for a bunch of compost.

Well, lets see. I'm big into Flight Simulator, not just flyin'em but designing add-on scenery for the sim. The plant I was working at shut down so I have a lot of free time to try and get my multi-million dollar corporate sign makin conglomerate off the ground!

Cheryl, I need a sign like yours except I'm a generation ahead of you. Mine needs to read "Maw Maw's Taxi." When my daughter-in-law was expecting the first one she bought me a beautiful cross stitching that read, "Just when a woman thinks her work is done, she becomes a grandmother." How true!

You seem to be the type of gal who loves being what she was designed to be. You will probably suffer from the "empty nest syndrome" when the time comes. But fear not! You will inherit the inlaws and grand children and your life will be fuller and busier than ever. And it's GOOD!

Hi Kathy.....yes I am already feeling my kids spending much more time away with their friends. But as far as the 'in~laws'....they sort of 'went away' when the ex did. Yeah....BRING ON the Grandbabies!!! (well in a few years....my kids are only 17 and 14!)

When I'm not making signs, I work part time as an usher at The Ice Palace. I get to go to every Tampa Bay Lightning game and lots of concerts and other events. Worked Bob Dylan last week, next week we have Neil Diamond and Jimmy Buffett. Next month we have Elton John and Billy Joel twice and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and Santana. It really takes my mind off of making signs and dealing with customers.

I think I'm with Old Paint. Our company is a graphics dept. within a bus company of about 50 employees. I showed a little too much knowledge when it came to computer and now I'm also the network administrator of this place as well.

Old Paint, if you like Quake...go out and pick up Return To Castle Wolfenstein. The network play is amazing.

When I'm not chiseling someone/something, and if there's no recording project going on in the studio, I spend time moderating the Swiss Rifles Forum and working in the reloading room. The entire family shoots skeet during the summer, so I reload some 6,000+ shotgun shells during the winter.

My wife and I just bought a new (10 year old) house. On saturdays we put on our tool belts, charge all the batteries on 6 power tools and become Mr. & Mrs. Bob Villa.

In the last 6 weeks I have installed hardwood floors in the dining room, Tiled the kitchen, hung wood blinds in 3 rooms, built a window seat in the bedroom, fixed a leaky shower window, painted and wallpapered and floored the guest bath and installed 3 closet organizers.

These have been Saturday only projects. We both hold offices at our church. Alternate sunday dinners between the inlaws, rest and watch football/nascar.

During the week week we sit by the fire and plan our next project while actually watching Bob Villa on the taped shows we record on Saturdays.

Friday is "date nite" A nice dinner, and then a romantic trip to Home Depot.

What fills my time...

I work at my "home-office" so work starts as soon as I get thru my morning shower( NO COMMUTE)...

I am either designing a logo, ad, brochure, web graphic, cd booklet, some art for a t-shirt or a vinyl graphic..., but most of the time it is some combination of all the above...

I have a screen printing shop, so I have to get all these t-shirts in, printed, folded, boxed, and back out...

besides t-shirts, I also do some sign work, airbrushing, glass-etching as well as the day-to-day business duties of running a "small advertising agency"...

trying to learn new software and all it's quirks to complete some art task, so I can move on to some other task that requires another type of software that has it's own set of quirks, and on and on...

I spend WAY TOO MUCH TIME checking out posts and portfolios on the BB (usually when I NEED to be doing some of the above!)...

I coach a 5th&6th grade boys basketball team so I am either at practice or a game. (seasons almost over, so I will shifting gears to head up a high school golf team...)

I am a semi-sorta-pro drummer, and am "on-call" with a couple of bands. I also play regularly with the band at my church. Just got back from a "road-trip" to Dallas playing at a couple of places there. Next week playing "showtunes" for a theatre production...

My wife, a school teacher, and my 6 year old son occupies a lot less than they should, but we are involved in alot of these things as a "family" so we are together alot...

I guess what I'm getting at is: I NEED A HOBBY!

When it is warm enough to be outside barefooted, then the spare time goes outdoors - sitting under a shade tree reading a book, riding the bike, taking a walk, watching the birds, playing with the neighbors kids, tending the roses, trimming the bushes...just a bunch of OUTDOOR STUFF.

When it is cold, then the spare time usually goes to something in front of a computer - writing a newspaper column, learning a new piece of software, designing something fun, surfing the web, researching something interesting, visiting Letterheads...just another bunch of INDOOR STUFF.

There's a good line in an old rock song "They say I'm lazy but it takes all my time"

The next line also fits "Life's been good to me so far" Vic G

Interior decorating
- we bought our current house just over 3 yrs ago and every single room needed TLC. We have a few to go. I ALWAYS have a project in the works. Last week I retouched all the paint on the walls. This week I plan to hang new curtains in the living room. Over Christmas I stenciled some kitchen cabinets. I keep my projects small and simple because I'm not able to get alot done at one time. Reason being, see next paragraph.

Mom
- We have a very energetic 2.5 yr old. He's the absolute light of our lives, and nothing gives me more pleasure than to spend time with him doing anything. My favorite days are when my work phone is turned off and we're both in our PJ's until noon, playing playdough, or simply cuddling on the sofa with a good book or kiddie movie.

Tv
- I do waste some time in front of the tube to unwind. I love interior decorating shows, Judging Amy and one soap, Young and the Restless. Before kids, I use to adore staying up and watch old late night movies. Fred Astaire, whatever! If it was black and white, I'd grab the munchies...

Reading
- just getting into 'magazines' now. I haven't read a real book in 2.5 years. (any guesses why??)

Internet
- I have to admit I love being on the net. In the late PM I answer emails, post on this bb and just unwind while the house is perfectly quiet.

Other:
horseback riding and gardening - love both but alot of time restraints right now

~~~~~~
Below is a link of some kitchen pics I had done up for my sister in law. I was showing off our new counters and new sink. (yes, if anyone remembers, I DID get the new sink after all! LOL!)
Surfing, Snowboarding, Jamming on my drums with some good bro's on bass & guitar. Sad truth is I'm snowboarding about as much as anything else which should say a lot
Got a new house & I'm remodeling it before moving in, so won't be increasing my surfing time for a while. Hoping to get the mountain bike out & try it for my new commute when I move out of the loft here in my shop.
What do I do? Cook, red up the house & shop sometimes, mall-crawl, run kids, yell at kids, read to kids, laundry, answer the phone, paint some signs, pay the bills, weed vinyl, knit, read tacky romance novels, go to the library, yak on the phone, fax the Wiz, plan the meet, pet the dog, talk to the bird in a 1-sided conversation, glare at the cat, watch TLC, teach a toon class @ church, eat chocolate, drink java, go out on Saturday night & come home alone, whine to my sister, visit my mom, daydream, nightmare, but mostly I just sit on my bed & sniff the T-Shirt Doc sent me for Christmas....yes, folks...I have no life! Love- JILL
ps and I never, ever dust the furniture!
