We all have our favourties. For me its my mom's recipe home made chicken soup. Not at all like anything you can buy anywhere.
I've long learned to cook it myself.
When we get a day like today... snow outside... recovering from a pinched nerve in my back... lost two major contracts in the last week... and a general feeling of cabin fever.
It was time this morning to buy a chicken and craft some of Mom's chicken soup.
I sit here now at the screen and kick back and enjoy my comfort food.
I think this afternoon is looking a whole lot better!!!
With a full stomach of my favorite food I think I'll tackle a couple new personal projects I've been putting off for a while.

The weather here has been a little chilly lately so I made a Matza ball chicken soup that will hopefully last a few days. In the evening I take a fresh sweet potato, slice it about a 1/4" length-wise, brush on fresh butter which I churn, brown suger which I make and sprinkle on some cinnamon, then stick them in a convection oven for about 15 minutes until they are soft. Let them cool and eat them when I get the munchies. Try it!

We had a fabulous meal last night. One of my favs! I made fresh salmon on the grill, a fully loaded mega salad, green beans smeared w/ butter and a glass of wine. Very satisfying! Energy food!
Dan, my mom is a fabulous cook ... hungarian food that is. Every other week we get together and she teaches me something new in hungarian. I just love the stuff, and I'm glad I'm learning to do it for myself.

How about Hershey chocolate! I live ten minutes outside Smiths Falls, Ontario where they have a big Hershey plant. The outlet has amazing prices and is a dangerous place to go shopping. On a good day if the wind is blowing the right way all you can smell all over town is CHOCOLATE! On a bad day eating chocolate solves all my problems. Sometimes I have even had to go to the plant to do lettering. Talk about working in heaven! Keeps me in good humor having a constant supply of chocolate. (and no, I don't weigh 200 lbs., but I do work out four times a week!)

for me it is anything southern, from my mother's homemade tomato soup(with okra and shredded corn(makes a great soup starter.) to a light biscuit handmade from scratch and cooked at high temp in a well seasoned cast iron skillet.
how bout a pan of cornbread with that.
don't even get me started about cornbread, chicken and homemade mashed potatoes made with whipping cream...

For me, it would have to be lasagna, manicotti, baked ziti, ravioli, etc. A good Italian girl at heart. I married a Norwegian guy and now all of his friends call him "Purcelli".
For dessert, anything that makes the house smell good! Something cinnamon-y with a vanilla bean.
