It is so common that it seems less Bizarre, but when you think about it... it's not really normal either!
I saw a funny full page ad on the inside front cover in SKIING magazine. Had a treestump with an animals doorway in the background, a mini white sheet pulled up to cover a small unknown carcass, & crime scene tape surrounding the area with armed guard, medical examiner, court reporter & a caption about people around there taking there last 6 weeks of snow seriously.
Well, maybe ya had to be there !

Doug, Hate to burst your bubble.... I live about 1/2 hour from Punxy (home of that damned rodent). There has been more than 1 groundhog.
I just don't get the whole thing about worshipping this creature. Anyone I know, given the chance, would grab the shotgun and blast him to bits, just like any other groundhog in these parts.

At my shop in the springtime there is "Harvey" ...its a little groundhog with a hole behind my shop. One morning last spring i left the front door open to get some fresh air into the shop after a night of painting. Wouldnt ya know Harvey decided to come in for a visit while i was sitting at the computer...he wobbled right in the shop ... I was cracking up. I went over to scare him out and he ran into the glass door HARD!! then he scampered away. Just about every morning in the spring you can count on him walking past the door at about 10 am. Oh well ya gotta love him ha ha.

February 15 is....my birthday! Just couldn't resist guys.
As for the rest of you, Groundhog Day is a big thing around here. Around here meaning my house. It's a long story but Groundhog Day became a pretty big holiday for my best friend and me. So nobody say anything mean about Phil - okay Chris!?!?

Chris, It was an ad. You and Ryan would have liked it! (maybe not Kimberly) I'm not sure which "bubble" but I get it that "Phil" is not some ancient creature as old as the holiday!

February is also the month that male models who are less than "well endowed" get to grace the centrefold of Playgirl Magazine....because it's the shortest month of the year.

There was an ancient math teacher at a high school here. She had this odd obsession with Punxy Phil. Anyway, a few people learned that if you wanted a day or three off school, all you had to do was walk into her classroom and utter "Kill Phil".
