I'm currently reading a book 'Window on Main Street' by Van Arsdale France. He was the guy who started the Disney University and ran it for many, many years. One sentence struck me especially...

quote:
...most people want to be involved in something greater than just being paid to do a job. Two guys were laying bricks. When asked what he is doing, one man says "I'm laying bricks". The other man performing the same task says "I'm building a cathedral"

This is how I view my own career. I don't just draw, or paint or weld or any of the other thousand things I get to do. It isn't a job but rather a mission. All these things are one little part of a much greater goal.

Those who work for me have this same career as well. While we strive to enjoy each little task, we also take time at the end of each day to celebrate the progress on our journey to the big goal. Every task, seemingly unimportant as it may seem is vital for our larger goals to be realized.

We are in the business of making the world a little more fun, a little more wonderous, a little more colorful.

Fulfilling the vision... the big picture is what motivates me each day.

Hey Dan, I hope that you are never too busy to let us in on all your thoughts and projects. You are a very valuable addition to our Bullboard.
If no one else has said so, I'd like to thank you for all your time and insight.

My friend Sam Adamov in Sedona has something lettered on his van like....
"Making the world a better place...
One sign at a time."
That reflects an attitude many of us celebrate. In a smaller community it seems easier because there is less competition of the kind of signs that looks more like polution than visual enhancement. I talk with people about how our community is my gallery.

Rick - YES! I'm going to put that on my truck today. This is why I want to be in this business, and maybe find a way to get into a signcode or zoning committee. Aren't we most qualified?

Rick, I am currently putting together a display for our local Chamber of Commerce. Think you're friend would mind if I used that slogan? I think it's great!

Just thought I should ask since I will probably post picts of the display later.

I have always hated that the "glass is half empty" type person. I find them very hard to work with.
We aren't just building signs...We are building your company's symbol. What we build will speak highly of you.
That is our philosophy.
