I have recently signed up for the signcraft magazine.
I think it’s a great read and very helpful.
My question is this. Is there any other US or Canadian sign magazine
Equally as Good. Ide hate to be missing out on anything as useful as signcraft.
Being from the UK it’s hard to hear about & come by these types of magazine.
Thanks for any help in advance

A.M.A.L. (A Magazine About Letterheads)If you can't find the info within the confines of this Bulletin Board...contact Doc Welty (see registration for e-mail)

Those are the two best (in my opinion)Signs of the Times is out there too and so is Sign Builder... they have a tendancy to pander to the electrica trades...both excellent magazines if you are turned that way. If you will contact them both they are pretty good about supplying an issue
or two for you to look at.

Robert

You can take a look at the web sites of all the trade magazines. Go to the Home page of this site www.letterville.com and take a look on the bar on the left. Click on our magazines. Then have fun exploring.
Most will even send you a sample magazine to look over.

Hi Robert,

As a Brit myself living in Scandinavia, I wanted to ask you if and what was available in the UK, regards "Signcraft" type magazines.More signart than state of the industry, and digital this and that.

I have taught myself all I know from masses of books and magazines but all or most, with the exception of Bill Stewarts Signwork are from the US`...no problem there, great eye candy....but I would like more sources from the UK. I have 3 books by A.J Lewery, Sign Written Art, Popular ARt, and Flowers Afloat about long boat art. And have seen magazines from the UK like Signworld, but what's available in the UK showing traditional work?

I subscribe to Signcraft, SignBusiness, AMAL, and Auto Art, I used to take Signs of the Times...but as has been said it was too much electrical signage. I also subscribed to SignBuilder which was a good read but never turned up on time or was a couple of months behind (they get it free in the US) I was paying a real subscription for it overseas and so stopped as it wasn't worth chasing up all the while.

Hi Henry & all
To be honest the UK magazines lack what the US have tons of. "Reader participation"
The mags have great coverage of products and up & coming events but sadly have almost nothing on step-by-step demos, competitions, readers letters and the like.
This is one of the reasons I was asking about the mags here, as ours give no help to us other than trying to sell us things.
This is one of the many reasons I have started the uksigngroup.com. I hope it will very soon be crammed with help and advise for the small as well as the big time sign makers.
It will take time but I will stick at it and hopefully good will come from it.
If you are considering any UK magazine 1st has to be "sign-update" 2nd, "sign directions"
But if you get your fair share of other mags ide save my money mate.

Thanks for the replies guys...

robert
