I came in today to catch up and I wish I hadn't.
I've never seen so much negativity and back biting as I read here today...nor have I seen so many thin skinned people.I swear I thought I was back in High School.
Everyone here is at a different levels, artisticly, socially, logistically, chonologically...some of us are even better looking than others.
But what none of us are is... Better than one another. All it takes is a moment to weigh your words...say what you like but be compassionate and caring. If you have a problem understanding what I'm trying to say here...try this!
Write your post as tho your mother is going to read it.

I must have missed those posts. Dang, I'll have to go snooping now.
Last time I noticed it being bad (not too long ago) I recommended the T-H-I-N-K approach. To see if what you are saying is Thoughtful, Helpful, Intelligent, Necessary and Kind. But I like your mother idea just fine - it's simpler for those empassioned times when thinking takes too long.

But just as you say people are on different levels talent wise it so goes for maturity, ethics, courtesy, and class. So some people don't have the skills to refrain and think. They just react.
I try to live by the old saying " if you don't have anything good to say then don't say anything at all."
Some people have a higher vocabulary than others as well. Sophmoric negativity..... I thought that was a tenth grader that says no all the time.
Go figure
Nuff said on my part, I'm going back to the sidelines.

It depends O.P., did you make it to sophmore year? Just razzin' ya, since I know anyone who can dish it out with your sense of humor, deserves the same.

Hey Pierre...The edit was to correct a one syllable spelling error...I wished I had caught the 3 syllable one "sophmoric" should be sophomoric...oh well if I could spell I wouldn't be a sign painter.

Uh huh, Monte. A likely story. I think you inadvertently told us about an affair you had, and then had second thoughts.

Hey Monte, the way I work it is just don't bother looking at any post that looks as though there is going to be negativity. Makes for a much better day.

As usual, everyone has agreed with you, and well they should. Unfortunately, you will probably post this same message over and over until it has lost it's meaning.
I have seen this post a hundred times, and yet nothing changes. I first stopped by Letterville a little over a year ago, and still find the negativity and lack of civility that was present from my first visit. I paid my dues like some new members here with threatening e-mails to me when they disagreed.
Hey It's the internet, I get it. Everyone has an excuse, but none held any substance to me. I have limited my posts as my interest in "the Letterhead meet that never ends" has subsided.
I saw great possibilities with what Steve and Barbara have created. Advertisers look at this board to determine whether or not thier message would be worth thier dollars. Sign people stop by for a visit as well. What are we saying to them? What do they think of us?
The success with this site is in the hands of everyone here.
It is your choice whether to reside or participate in a community where neighbors care about each other as sign people or choose a path that warrants a constant message such as this from Monte and The Mayor.

I'm sure all you say is true, & you are a realist calling it like you see it but, it is still negativity no?
Come on dude "from here on down it's all uphill" Thats the spirit!
I have checked out just a few other boards, &I've seen some real loserville alternatives out there.
I'd like a more perfect BB, just as much as I'd like a more perfect world, but this is still the best place I've seen for seekers & keepers of our craft.
Anyway I just wanted to put in a good word for taking the good with the bad & keeping the good attitude mentioned in Kathy's recent inspirational post.

Well, I peer at myself in the mirror when I get up every morn, And I marvel at how great I’ve been since the day that I was born. I’ve made so many albums I’ve run out of things to name ‘em. My fans all want to be just like me and, really, who can blame ‘em?
Teenage groupies all surround me, I guess I know why; No one else can match my style, why do they even try? All the girls in college turn me down for other fellas But I know why, it seems to me, they’re just extremely jealous.
Some people call it self indulgence but they just don’t understand That it’s hard to be too humble when you know that you’re so grand. I’m not trying to say I’m perfect, I just want you to see That I’ve never met a person who’s as wonderful as me.
Now I’m not arrogant or haughty and I’m certainly not conceited But anyone trying to match my wit is very soon defeated. I’m a marvelous human being, I’m just one big hunk of man. Some times I have to marvel at how very great I am.

Monte, I was looking for a post and couldn't find it - but since Rob deleted his I took a wild guess that was where I saw it, it was a partial quote from a C&W song from about 30 years back, about how hard it is to be humble when you're just about perfect and it reminded me of this one that Weird Al did around the same time. By the time I located it in my archives (read; Pile) I lost the other thread. No offense meant, it's all in fun...

Not driving at anything, Monte, no axe to grind. It's just a funny song to me and I wanted to share the humor. Looks like I put it in the wrong place - open mouth/insert foot.
