I've got some really good pics from the swampland panel jam, usually my photos turn out crappy...well wouldn't you know it, now the scanner is acting up. It's putting thin vertical lines of various colors onto the image. Anybody got any ideas, is the piece of crap had it?

George

I don't know if this will help or not.

I cover my scanner over the top with a black garbage bag (draping) it over the top.
This stops any light leaks. (in or out)

Seems to help on getting good images as your scanning...
May be the problem but I really can't say!

Good Luck.

Try reloading your software.
Your video card may be acting up.
Check your cable.
Do you use a SCSI card for your scanner. If so that may be the problem.
Hit it until it won't move anymore. Use a larger hammer.

George

I've noticed that if I buy an extended warranty the equipment lasts longer, but will still act up when that finally expires.

Maybe this is the problem. Is the warranty expired??

I just got a new Epson 1650 that I would recommend highly. With extended warranty

Look inside and see if there's dust on the mirror or on the prism.

Thanks everybody, I got it fixed. I think Mayo hit it with the dust on the mirror and prism. I opened it up and it was nasty. After I put it back together it wouldn't communicate with the computer. After some cussing and changing cables I just said **** it and went about doing something else. My e-mail was locking up at the same time. I came back later on in the evening, e-mail worked fine, turned on the scanner and it worked fine too

Carl, I called that guy, seems like he had a real bad car wreck and is kinda out of it. His brother called me looking for the bike pieces, so I don't know whats going on there.
