We got into a discussion here at the office this morning about minimum wages.. had some old timers complaining about makin $1.75 an hour back in '68.. turns out their wages equated to over $2/hr MORE than the current minimum wage! By the way, the current minimum wage in the US is $5.15/hr.
Check out this chart I found with the comparisons.. listed by year with the min. wage at that time and the value of that wage in current dollars.
There's a link to the Bureau of Labor statistics site at the bottom of that chart which has more info like wage comparisons across the US listed by Industry type and even employment costs.

Randy, according to the employment laws posted in this office (I'm contracting engineering services in-house to an ex-employer) the min. wage is still $5.15.. Maybe it's old info.. those papers get updated once a year I believe, in September, which might explain any delay in getting updated info with recent events.

It looks like 1968 was a good year to be working for minimum wage. Actually, I remember working for $1.60 hr. in the 70s. $64.00 before taxes, and still had money to burn.

Seems like the "trade" hourly wage up here has keet up with the brice of Beer. That's 5% factory beer. If you're doin' good, you're up with the excellent microbrews. My scientific testing of micros in Wash. state shows MASSIVE HOPS AND AWESOME TAPS!
