Hey again all. I was wondering, does anyone know how to acheive that real think glass looking clearcoat? I always see it in souvenir type desk junk, & these religious pictures at local shops. I hear its something about acrylic. Hmm?

I think it is a two part epoxy type product you pour on...the substrate has to be very level...Several years I used some....got it at a Craft Supply House. Shep'

Felix, talk to Pierre about Pelucid. Actually, if you search the archive for pelucid, there should be lots of information. The subject has been discussed here two or three times in the past. Pelucid's website has a wealth of info. Pierre can give you the link, or you can google it.
We brushed pelucid onto the border of a west facing redwood sign. You can see the brush marks if you look hard, but you would probably spray it. After one calendar year of California sun, the finish looks like new. Vic G

Many moons ago, I bought some of that 2 part epoxy. Was gonna try making one of those cypress-stump clocks. The instructions said to use a propane torch to eliminate the bubbles...... I set the cotton pickin' thing on fire. HA HA Maybe I'll try it again sometime.
I believe Shep is correct though, that's the right stuff.
I finished the stock on my deer rifle with it about 23 years ago. It's still holding up well.
Oh yea, Pelucid. Forgot about that.
