In light of a recent thread as how to use up your scrap materials......thought I would let you see how I used some MDO as a basis for one of my Personal Projects....along with some Urethane Foam and some Fiberglass.....

I love that car Shep.

I use my scrap MDO for a lot of projects, I built a custom table for my son's " Thomas the Tank" Engine set, rebuilt the top and 1/4 of the back of my camper with MDO scraps. as well as rebuilt the back seats and floor of my boat. I keep most of my MDO scraps.

It's the wonder scrap!

The front end has a shape similar to the back of a older 'vette. What's next? You're on the beach, do you get involved with boats?

Santo,
The "Car" is at my workshop in the mountains of NC, where I spend some time working on my New Shop as well as work on the "project" when I have the time.
I spend most of my time during the winter at the Beach,
Don,
when it is finished I will take you for a ride.....it may be a while.....

Its amazing what we can do with scraps... but that is about the most amazing thing yet that I've seen.

But I bet you cut up at least one good sheet of MDO Shep... If you are like me you just had to.

I'm building a long term hot rod project of my own. 1904 Mitchel Only I had no parts to start with... it's all from scratch.

My first attempt at the body was of plywood and fiberglass and built in my upstairs studio. And my family were really bugged by the fumes and smell they said... go figure

I later scrapped it and built it out of welded aluminum instead. It's looking good but still not finished. I've had it running though and will get going again when I build my new shop... soon I hope!

Great looking project Shep.... makes me want to get back to my own. Maybe I'll even finish mine before you???

Dan, I started with a chalk drawing on the floor of my old shop,Then I ordered a set of plans from a co. in Calif. and modified them. (The co. is no longer in business )
and yes I confess......I did cut up at least one good sheet of MDO, and some 1/2 sheets of HDU.

Your project sounds interesting...could we see some photos ?????
And yes you will probably finish your project before I finish mine.....

Can I be put on the waiting list for when this goes into mass production????

Awesome Work! Can't wait to see some picts when it's totally done. Maybe if someone near-by has a meet, we can all go on a field trip to check this out first hand.

Chris,
If I EVER get it finished....I will drive it to some meets...at least here on the "left" coast...
Ryan,
I have narrowed the paint to two choices...
One...Black with Ghost Flames along the door and tail section.......
Two...Metallic silver......with irredescent flames in the same place as above.....

Great Job!
When will it be on Letterhead tour.
I wonder how the folks at DMV will respond?
It looks like it meets the standards.

Time for paint soon!

Thanks, The "Tour" may start in 2003, hopefully..
Question about DMV ????
I Have a clear title for a 1980 Honda Goldwing......This is how it will be registered.
It should meet all the requirements.
(Can you just picture the look on the Officers face when he looks at the Reg.Card????)Motorcycle ????? "Who ya kiddn Bubba ???"

I have driven the "vehicle" around the block...but not on the Highway yet.......

Air Conditioning..along with an "On Board " Computer that controls most all of the necessary functions of monotering the mechanical functions. Such as Cruise Control...Fuel, Tach., Speedo, Mileage, Trip, Temperature Inside and Out,...Etc.
