Nevermind, sort of......

I got most of it to work.

At first when the form results were getting emailed to me it shoed the email address input on the form as the from email address in my email porgram (outlook express).

Now it keeps coming up blank. Can that be adjusted in the code or something???

Amy, I know that you didn't ask, but in our type of business, form mail is not an asset. I started to use them myself, but they weren't needed. A simple e-mail contact is fine. Keeping the bin working and other problems, aren't worth the efforts... I have looked at your page and think you have done a great job with it so far. One thing you will find, is a web page is probably not going to land you many calls. I have had 3 pages for over 6 years, and have made one sale from them. I have had a few contacts, but nothing that I really wanted. Mostly people wanting help on odd problems. On the other hand, I find it to be an extemely important sales tool to guide buyers to on the telephone and when I am making a sales call. I can just get them to dial up and walla, there I am. Its a great way to stay in contact with your customer base. In the next few years, I think being established on the net will benifit us much more. Good luck with your efforts, Jack

Amy...Your site is looking real fine!!!

I agree with Jack that a simple e-mail adress link is all you need. Everyone has a default e-mail program and just clicking on the link will pop up their e-mail prog so they can contact you.

As far as the value of a site in general...

Mine has been up for over 5 years and at this time I think I have done maybe $5000-$10,000 worth of work as a direct result of it (I don't keep accurate records of where work comes from }

The big secret to getting hits is the effective use of "Meta Tags" so that the search engine crawlers can find and list your site effectively.

Just a couple of suggestions.

Hi Amy:

I think the formmail.pl script identifies the "email" field, and includes it in the "from" e-mail that's sent to the "recipient" (newer versions of the script also check the e-mail address for correct formatting). It may be case sensitive (don't know), so renaming your field from "Email" to "email" (change the required tag as well) may help.

Or naming the field "Your_Email" or something other than simply emial should treat it just like any other input field. So it should be included in the body of the e-mail that's sent to you.

Regards,

Jim
