Hey John,
What was the date/time stamp on that e-mail?
I got a suspicious e-mail from one of my clients' computer on Friday. The two attachments were MP3 something and a read me file entitled: AT000011 or something like that. I deleted the message and ran my Norton program. It detected no viruses.
Well, Wednesday morning, when I opened my e-mail I'm getting emails from bunches of people letting me know that I have a "Badtrans" virus. So, I downloaded the fix from Micro-Trends, run that, and it says it's gone now. Ran Norton again just to be sure.

Why didn't Norton(which was updated) find it the first time?

Sorry you got it John.

Another question: When I set Norton for "auto protect", it will not stay there. When I open the program again, the box beside auto protect is x'd red. It used to stay on auto protect. What am I doing wrong?

Has your Update Service expired? I wonder if that would have anything to do with it. (just guessing)

The norton picked it up before it was opened Wayne. I double checked the system to be sure though. Dont know why your auto protect wont stay up. I just bought Norton Systemworks, which has the latest version of Norton Antivirus in it. System works is a great utility. For the price, its great. Just figured since it sent me the email, you had to be infected, and wanted to let you know without sending an email.

Hey Wayne, try right clicking on the auto protect icon on your task bar, and highlight configure norton antivirus. Make sure you have the three boxes under how to stay protected checked. That may help.

I removed all Norton when it started messing up my computer....now I have AVG from www.grisoft.com
It's caught the dreaded Transbad each and every time, and best of all....it's FREE!!!!!!

I just don't trust Norton or Mcafee anymore, I hear it all the time....'Why didn't it catch this one?'
So far, I've been happy with AVG.

Glenn, the "virus definitions" subscription of my NAV 2001 program has expired. Otherwise, I have been updating it. Maybe that's the problem.

Adrienne, I am downloading that AVG software now. Thanks!

John, I think I'll uninstall Norton and try Adrienne's virus program for awhile. I can always reinstall it later.

Thanks all
