i did a faux finish last night. the painting company that hired me was doing the clearcoat today. waterbased flecto varathane wood finish over a latex stain. when i left today they were brushing on the varathane.

i just got a call. the varathane has pits in it (?) all over.

i asked if they shook it. he said no. they did roll it on. i'm thinking air bubbles.

but, how to solve it. can it be done easily, preferrable without my help.

does anyone know how to fix this dilemma? emergency, emergency! these guys didn't need this extra work.

Gail it sounds like maybe the finish you put down wasnt finished off gassing when they started clearing overit...fumes have to get out some kinda way, usually sows up as pinholes...escaping fumes coming thru topcoat...if thats the case waiting a while b4 trying to recoat while work....not sure if that helps

Sometimes some brands of paint do not dry well if it is too cold and emit a greasy substance which would cause the same effect as painting over polish. I am not sure if this is the cause as I am not familiar with overseas paint brands. But if it is, a few drops of anti silicone in the topcoat will fix it.
