i've used 3m edge sealer on my graphics on windows for a couple of years now and i'm not happy with it. it seams to crack and seperate over time (less then a year). I tried using (e-tape) but it peeled up the next week. any ideas or suggestions.

Heya Wayne... I have used the 3m stuff in the past, but havent noticed the problems you describe. Have you tried the "Seal-it" pen yet? Super easy to use, its just like a felt pen, but with edge sealer in it. I got mine from either Taca(Adcam on the island) or East/West, cant remember which. Hope it helps ya some....

3-M on glass doesn't work that well.
"BUT" try One-Shot UV on the edge.

Sorry this edit is to say that Liquid form and not spray boom... Brushed around edges.

Both are Acrylic base products but the One Shot is UV..

I'm gonna ask a couple questions(and probably get beat profusely)about using "edge seal".

1- is it to keep people from "picking" at edges?
2- is it just insurance cause you have "edge lift problems"?
I really want to understand, cause I never knew there was a serious need for this(if the vinyl was bonded well 100% to begin with).

Roger,
some specialty vinyls, signgold is one that I've used, are made by laminating a few layer of material together. Apparently cleaning and sometimes just weather can cause these layers to seperate. Edge seal tries to hold 'em together.

you know that some materials are thicker than others.
"Reflective is one of them."

Dirt seems to trap on the edge surface and work under it to break the bonding..

An edge seal will help extend the life of the product as it's not allowing the contaminates to get under the material.

Works for me!

thanks for all the info guys. I guess i should have told you, it's two way vision window film. reflective on the back windows only. Maybe i'll put a couple coats of edge sealer or one shot on. I'll take a look at that pen at taca (adcam)

thanks again
