Looks great Mark.

It didn't take that long to load. I'm working on a 28800 connection (as everyone on chat has heard many times, our phone lines are so old, they won't connect higher than 31200 on a good day) and didn't have a problem with loading.

I really like the faux finish.

Mark,
That was a great job putting the step by step together, easy to follow and the design had lots of different things that made it very interisting. About how many hours did you have in this project???

Keep up the great work!!!

great looking sign!

i'm a hard and fast oil base paint user(Sherwin Williams industrial enamal and Oneshot) but have considered using water base more when a customer requested it(to match excisting paint) and liked the drying time!

Used the stencils like you did but have always wondered about the lettering brushes.i see you used mack tell me more about that!

i noticed that you used intermidiate vinyl as a mask...i have had some experiances with the adheasive being to agressive and pealing the background(even with proper prep and sanding!) Avery makes a paint stencil that i've been using for some years that eliminated that problem for me...and its cheaper than the intermediate!

thanks for shareing the step by step!

thanks everyone for your thoughtful comments.
jim, in answer to your question, this job took roughly 18 to 20 hours.(i spent a lotta time "tweaking" the sign
other production was going on during the different phases.
the selling price on this sign was $1416.50

the client was so trilled with the design and wanted the sign finished to be installed by his building contractor before christmas that he threw in an extra hundred bucks! (that rarely happens )

you guys are right it is loads of fun and on top of that it buys groceries!

thanks again,

mark

(oh by the way, did anyone notice that the D&L was Dan Antonelli's "Nicole", without the convex? the ampersand came from signdna's ampersand font.)

Hi Mark,
Great stuff. It's a great feeling to be able to take your skills, and make something useful for someone else. Especialy when you can take $100 worth of stuff and turn it into $1400. Was also wondering about that flourish on the bottom of the sign. Is it centered? or it just my browswer?

Keep up the great work

Man, Great job Mark! All the tweaking you did really paid off. What a nice sign! You can tell when someone has really thought out everything on a job. The bevels and shading really make this job stand out. Thanks for showing the process of a great job. We need more of this type of post. MOre step by steps.

Thanks, Mark. Great looking sign. If you could let us know what brand of paints and vinyl you used, it would be appreciated. Also, ditto on the side-step for the faux marble panel. You is da man. Also, how long did you wait before you applied the vinyl mask?

once again, thanks everyone for the favorable comments on my first step by step.
when i get a little time i will add more details on the step by step such as tools used and how i created the marble oval.

also i plan to go into detail about the design process and the software used to arrive at this design.

thanks again, it sure makes an old sign painter feel good to hear such praise from his peers.

Merry Christmas everyone,

mark
