Got a room to rent? Sounds like home to me, at least the one that one only dreams of.

He packs a pistol everywhere but he's an old softie anyway. I came in and read this and realized how right he is about the firebox. I always feel some kind of relief when I come from town and go over the pass back into Lost Prairie and home. That's why I'm building a house in the Jack Pines just back behind the house in the spring. The well is already in and I guess if I have kids they'll sit in front of that old firebox too.

Very cool Pierre! As I write this....our old firebox is a blazing too. Aint it great? Sounds like your home has lots of warmth....both from the firebox and the people living there.

The silent watching friends! Heat sure can be a central factor that unifies the household. I always laugh at how much heat some wood produces. You get hot when you cut it. You get hot when you stack it in the wood shed. There's some warmth in hauling it in. There's the warmth of it burning, then there is shovelling ashes. Lotsa BTU's.
Pierre, your stove has seen many tears and heard much laughter. Perhaps someday it will write its memoirs.
