Hi First of all our company (wife and I) would like to thank all of you guys and gals for all of the bull that goes into this site. This site gave us the parts to start wood product signs, sand blasted signs, gold leafing and even carving. WOW. It is the spirit of the the board here that inspires us both to try new techniques to make the sign industry an art form, not just the internet in plastic.
I have been reading from the letterhead bull board about paints. I have been told by some to use latex on cedar so the wood can breath. I have been told by others to use oil for durability. Our climate is wet and cool.
Our arguments for latex are. Easy to clean Dries somewhat faster Availability
Against
Durability
Our arguements for oil are. Durability Ease of use Strong colours

At the VERY likelihood of sounding like a peddlar.........go to my website at www.stmariegraphics.com and click on the "Products" page. Read it first, then go to the "Carvings" page and take a look at the end result of using the product I reccommend. Call on my toll free if you have any questions.
