In Corel Draw 9, after selecting a text object the "Property Bar" would change. The Property Bar would include the ability to change the width and height of the text proportionally and unproportionally. However, in Corel Draw 10, that ability is gone. I only have the ability to change the typestyle itself. I now have to open the Transform Bar to get to do what I used to be able to do in Corel 9.
Any suggestions? I'm really starting to hate the changes in Corel 10.

hehehehehe Glenn!! I know what ya mean.. Some "improvements" are actually steps backward.
I don't know about setting up the workspace to look like Version 9 but here is a solution to your problem.
I customised the menu bar to include the "rotate" button when text is selected but I can't for the life of me remember how I did it!!! (Once that button is on there you will be able to do what you want to do.)
However...if you click on the little arrow at the bottom right corner of the "node edit tool" and choose the "free transform tool", then click on the text, you will get the menu bar you are looking for when text is selected.

You know, I'm sorry if Steve has a cow for me posting this, but I see a ton of corel related Q's here. Why don't you guys subscribe to cdug.com? Its an email list (Its not a message board like this one) The people there are really, really cool too. It works great for me just as the BB does.

Go into customization, selct commands in the tree to the left, then go to the pull down menu and select transform in the list you will see size, transform and all that good stuff there that will size your fonts,, drag this off to your work area and then after you close the dialog then drag up to the tool bar this should do it for you

Felix....Thanks! I'll check it out tonight.
Benji....Thats what I'm doing now. The problem is that Corel 9 had it in the Property Bar along with the Text options. Having to pull out an additional Docker (Transform) eats into the page real estate and is annoying to me. I wish Corel hadn't changed it and left well enough alone. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Yeah I opted to use the size properties bar instead of the Docker, I hate the dockers but if you drag the dockers off they act like the old rollups are at least simmalar, I still like 8 better but of course Iv'e used corel since 3 I hope that this part helps ,

I was a little frustrated because of all the changes from 9 to 10, but the nice thing is that the program allows you to configure it pretty much any way you want it.
There are two ways (or maybe more, who knows) to go about it:
Method 1: Select some text so the Property Bar changes to it's Text state. Go into Tools->Customization->Commands. Here it lists most of the commands and effects that CorelDraw has. You should see an icon of some binoculars. Click on that and do a search for "size". It will find a whole bunch of commands, but just keep hitting the find next button until one of them says "Object(s) Size" in the Tooltip Help field. Grab the icon it's highlighted and drag it right out onto the Text Property Bar. Make sure you click "Ok" to exit the dialog box when you're finished.
You can do this for any command and any state of the property bar. For instance, if I wanted the Quick Weld command to be available when I have a group of objects selected, I would select a group, go into the Customization dialog and drag stuff out onto the Group Property bar.
I suggest people should use this method to see all the tools that are available in CorelDraw. There are some tools and settings that can only be found by poking around there, they're not in the rest of the default interface.
Method 2: This is much easier for quickly customizing your workspace on the fly, but you miss out on the above mentioned benefit. This method involves using either the "CTRL" + "ALT" modifier keys to copy a command icon, or just the "ALT" modifer to delete a command icon. So, in this case, draw a rectangle so the Property Bar changes and your sizing commands appear. Then hold down "CTRL" + "ALT" and click your left mouse button on the command you want to copy and drag it onto the page somewhere. This will create a new toolbar with the duplicate of the command in it. Repeat the steps to copy the other tools you want available too. I think the ones you want are called "Object(s) Size, "Scale Factor", & "Nonproportional Scaling/Sizing Ratio". You can check this if you hover over the command, the name will appear in the Tooltip help that pops up.
After you're done, you can either grab the toolbar you just made and dock it into place beside the property bar, so it will be available no matter what state the property bar is in, or you can copy these commands into the property bar when it's in its text state. So, select some text so the Property Bar changes to the state that you want, hold down "CTRL" + "ALT" and click and drag the commands from your new toolbar onto the Text Property Bar. Then close the new toolbar you made.
To delete any command icons, use the "ALT" key only when clicking and dragging. When you release the mouse button, the command will be removed from wherever you picked it up, so be careful with that one.

Maybe I'm oversimplifying your question, but when you are in the text mode, and with the text selected, if you right mouse click, it brings up the options you need.

Glad to help where I can. I should mention to anyone else interested in this stuff that it's really not as complicated as all those instructions suggest - I just wanted to make sure there was a complete walk through of the steps. Once you do it once or twice, it's a snap.

i agree with bob, customising your workspace isnt very hard at all and once done makes all the differance to easy of working on a day to day basis its also sumfin that needs to be done with every new version so ya get pretty good at it after a while
there are tools that i use all the time and so like to have them close n handy
dont forget that the workspace setup can be imported, so if you need to do a few puters just get it right on one and export it for use on the others
