What would be your choices if you were a Corel user? Is EyeCandy just for photoshop? I can get Bryce, but it appears a much different program. I find the 3D effects to show well for presentations for a sign carver. Bronzeo

I have just started to get familiar with Fireworks (Thanks to Mark Fair) and I really like the effects that you can effortlessy acheive.. I think you will like it...Shep'

Eye Candy works well in Corel Photopaint and does work in Draw, although it's effects are bitmap ones. I have Bryce at home and use it for personal entertainment in rendering landscapes and such. I really can't see it's use as a 3D sign design tool. Eyecandy and Fireworks are excellent for those presentations.

Arvil, David, I have fireworks 4 . I opened it and imported a corel 7 file. It didn't import well and couldn't take a Corel 9 at all. After 15 minutes of search, I see no 3-D effects. What am I looking for. If I just had a starting point, perhaps I could explore from there. Thanks, Jack

Jack, as far as true 3D software (on text I suppose?), Ulead makes a program for that as well as Micrographx. Eyecandy is great on some of the effects I think you are looking for. Also I have bookmarked this site: http://www.3dlinks.com/ All the major 3d software links are there. I don't know if that helps much, but could be a start.

I don't think stuff like Bryce is what your looking for. I'm guessing that you are just trying to add little bevels and shadows to layouts. You have photopaint right? Photopaint has bevel and shadow effects right? (I use photoshop with corel 9 so I'm not completely sure) Think of your 3D signs as layers (deepest cut would be bottom layer) then transfer those "layers" individualy into a bitmap program. So for example ... from cdr export the back panel as ai/eps then import onto it's own layer in bitmap program ... then export the raised lettering, and import onto the next layer in bitmap program then add the effects.
I have fireworks but only use it to compress and slice after graphics are created so I can't much help there but maybe you can do that same layering thing there.

Jack, I would advise getting Photoshop if you don't already have it. The eye candy filters work flawlessly with it. I use it in conjunction with illustrator. When I do a design, and want to add bevels, etc., I save each part as an eps. Open up a new page in photoshop, and place each part as I need it. That way, I can lay down the outlines, then the main copy and apply what effects I need. Corel can save as eps also, so I am sure you could do it this way. On the front page of my site is an example of this. It was done the way I described above. Let me know if you need any help.
