As my daughter and I are trimming the tree, fire crackling....singing along to Christmas tunes...........I find it sad but also very much heartwarming to hang all the little ornaments. One by one...... Remembering the ones from Grandpa...gone many Christmas eves ago. The ones made with the babies smiling little faces. (seems like yesterday!) We hold in our hearts forever....these times. Does your tree too hold so many very special memories....the toilet paper rolls so carefully decorated with glitter...hanging proudly on the top branches. The handmade wood ornaments made with love from my best buddy Bergie now in heaven with Grandpa........the handpainted balls my son and I got wild and crazy with one year...............the kindergarten 'to mom with love' paper wreaths............................. And so this is Christmas.........I hope you too have many special memories hanaging from your tree....and when you unwrap each ornament and hang it on your tree, may your hearts hold many happy thoughts. Merry Christmas my fine and talented neighbors in Letterville. May all your wishes come true.

Holidays are for family, especially in our home. Kids have always made it special..when they were little and...now that they are older and can fully appreciate what its all about. Some of our ornaments were gifts, some were Gramma's..the little glass teapot with the delicate glass spout....still intact. Some ornaments made by the kids, still others with a lost history but nonetheless still a member of the "decoration family". We hang sprigs of pine with ribbons on each window of our old cobblestone house...its a sight to behold..twinkly lights in a grapevine arch over the front door makes it complete in the dark. Holly n ribbon n candles on the fireplace mantle.. Merry Christmas Cheryl...and Merry Christmas to all of Letterville.

We are getting into the spirit of Christmas at our house. THe tree is there but not decorated quite yet.
For us Christmas is about family. And they are all coming to our little house this year. Everybody comes for a couple of days here, lots of good eating and time for chit chat and family games. 21 crazy people all crammed in.
I think I'll blow the leaves off the mini golf course and start a new tradition this year. THe Spiers family Christmas Golf TOurnament. Hmmmmm.
Gonna be fun!
Have a GREAT Christmas Everyone!!!

Christmas is a little more special for me this year.
My dad's about to finish up his new log house, we're working on the finer interior bits and pieces now.. a couple nights ago we worked together hand carving the log railing which now frames the opening in the floor leading to the basement.
We've got the decorations up on the place already, and we shared a bottle of Bailey's while doing it. Nothing like getting buzzed with dad and now we get to straighten out all the mistakes we made the first time.
Talk about making new traditions.

Merry christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone and although my Christmas tree is very small I still have the manger with the 3 wisemen, baby Jesus and all those who participated in tack. Its been under my tree ever since I could remember, probably fifty plus years. Since my immediate family is long gone, rememberence is what I live on and I just love the holiday season, God bless you all.

Last year we opted to get a small tree (3 foot or so) instead of the monster trees we usually have. So, some ornaments didn't get put up, but the special ones did. This year my tree got decorated a little differently than normal. Usually, I hang all the ornaments my grandma has passed down to me with a few select other ornaments. Man, I remember these same ornaments hanging on her tree when I was little. This year, however, I carefully re-packed all those fragile ornaments and decorated my tree completely in Grinch ornaments. Before anyone gets off in a huff, lemme explain. I love the Grinch, always have. It has been my tradition for years to watch the cartoon Grinch on Christmas Eve. And, I'm not certain how my dog will react to the tree. Last year, if we weren't here with him, he was in his cage. He's a big boy now and the cage is gone, so he has the run on the house when we're not here. He's already confused the santa teddy bear with his squeek toy. Don't want him deciding to try to climb the tree and destroying all my irreplaceable ornaments.
No matter how you decorate or what your holiday traditions are, may everyone here have a merry Christmas.

Joh:1:1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Joh:1:2: The same was in the beginning with God. Joh:1:3: All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. Joh:1:4: In him was life; and the life was the light of men. Joh:1:5: And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Joh:1:10: He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. Joh:1:11: He came unto his own, and his own received him not. Joh:1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Joh:1:13: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Joh:1:14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Lu:2:7: And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Last year at Christmas time I had just learned that I had lung cancer. There wasn't much of a Christmas spirit in the air around here. All my family was afraid that I wouldn't make another Christmas. I am now in total remission with no evidence of the cancer. Every day is like Christmas, with a prayer of thanks every morning and several times during the day. There's nothing like having a potentially fatal desease and then having God give you another chance to put your life in proper perspective. So, this Christmas is special!!
Merry Christmas to all of you and please don't forget why we really celebrate Christmas.
God Bless you all

Each year we go out trudging through the woods with another couple to find the perfect tree. This will be our 27th year. The four of us would pile into my pickup, and head out. We sang Christmas carols, cut down trees, shot down some mistletoe, and stopped at the same restaurant to eat dinner.
Then one year, we took our daughter along. The next year, we took their daughter also. The year after that, we had our son to take as well. By this time, my friend had purchased an extended cab pickup(for this purpose).
This year we have the twin grandsons. Good thing I work out of an older station wagon. We have already figured out how we can get all 9 of us in it, with 2 car seats, and hang the trailer on the back.
I hinted to my kids that we may just buy a tree this year, to save the hassle of getting 9 people in one vehicle, but they would not hear of it. My friend is now looking at a 15 passenger van, in case any more grandkids come along.
The best part of it is that my kids are now 19 and 21, and they still look forward to this outing with the old people.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

Ah! Christmas. I spent all of sunday afternoon in the loft digging out all of the christmas trees and decorations that were put there last year and are now covered in 12 months worth of stuff that my wife has collected (she's a bit of a hoarder). Finished about midnight all decorated totally exhausted now comes the card sending and present buying. Went to Lincoln yesterday to the Christmas Market and shuffled through with the crowds like sheep BAA! Now Lincoln is an OLD city with a huge 900 year old cathedral and castle of the same age (Robin Hood was a well known figure, he wore clothes of Lincoln Green). Did we buy anything, no too many folks so we retired to the Pub for a Pint and to rest our feet. I'm spending christmas with the wifes family as my parents are of to germany to see my sister and her family.
May you all have a safe and happy christmas and a profitable new year and on christmas day I will raise a jar to your health in my local (pub) sat in front of a roaring fire.
CHEERS!
