You're now deaaling with Corporations . . . suits, ties starched collars.

Offer them a FULL window graphic display using their newest model with Santa in the driver's seat and a "long-legged elf" perched atop the hood~!

i haven't seen many window decorations down here either. its not the corporate thing... maybe all the seasonal artists who used to do them have been run out of town by the high cost of living... or else the merchants don't have enough $$ to decorate.

i assumed that this year would have MORE Chri$tma$ decor to lure shoppers in.

I've had very little decline from last year's business...doing all my regular clients at my regular prices..only ones that didn't paint this year were the post offices...
I'm doing my local one post office) for free, only because the supervisor has been real good to me and has brought me new clients over the years, and also because a lot of business owners in town will see it!

The "Christmas Spirit" is alive and well "down-under"

No decline in Xmas windows and our "cut-out" figures are 50% up on last Year already!!!!!

We did a custom 8ft x 8ft Santa & Sleigh plus 4 reindeer, 3 elves and a snowman for one Mexican Restaurant last week. Currently we are finishing a custom "full set" 4 ft high Santa/Sleigh and 9 reindeer for a Aquatic (Swimming Pool) Centre. The sleigh is full of penguins and they are also riding the reindeer! I will post a pic when its erected this weekend.

These "cut-outs" are fun and easy to do and certainly a money-maker every year now.

There does seem to be less in my area this year. I hav'nt had as many calls for them as well. I know many shopping centers have "anti-window painting" verbage in their leases these days. There seems to more ordinances against this type of work as well. Again the faces of the Sign Industry contiue to change.

I have done few only because I have been busy with other campaigns with all the low interest car dog jargon. I have done a few big ones and even one today. It is a tough campaign to sell because it is so short lived. Most of my stuff stay up at least three months, which would make doing holiday windows in late September? No way.

Speaking of Lincoln Mercury: Yes. They have restricted window painting entirely. I read the memo at a Ford store who broke off L/M and had to remove their window campaign to abide. So has Lexus and probably MB. No big deal. Lots more fish to fry!

For every one of the ones who complain how tacky window painting is, I have another who tells me it is still the most cost effective means to get out an immediate and urgent sales message. Styles and fashions change, but advertising budgets still respect value. Where can you get a newspaper ad in front of that many people for that long for so little. Does it work? Eleven years later I have to admit that it sure is not my selling skills that keep it alive. It must work and will be around just like it has been for a long, long time.
