A customer who I have done a series of signs for needs a few more of the same in Arabic.
What is the best way to get this done.
Translated is one thing, but what about a compatible font for Signlab.
Any ideas?

The poster of fonts that I got with CasMate pro shows at least a dozen styles & weights of Arabic fonts. I know I don't have them loaded, but I assume they are included on my CD. If nothing else pans out I could try to load one, set some type and export as an eps file. That brings up the translation point you mentioned, I guess trying to match a sample would still be a challenge even if I had an arabic keyboard.

Signs with Japanese characters are very common here. Most of us get camera ready art, & scan it. Have the results proofed & signed off on. Carefull weeding too, as a lost contour could slip by more easily, & who knows what new words you may achieve.

Sounds like you have 2 choices:
1.get an Arabic Keyboard, and have him type it in for you.
2.Have him provide "camera ready" artwork, that you can scan... or use to make a pounce pattern in order to paint it.

If you decide to make a pattern and paint ....do your lettering from right to left!!!! That way you will follow the natural flow of thw characters. Painting from left to right is a real bitch! You will be fighting your brush all the way!!!

Been there, done that!
