Took a major step today...we signed with our building contractor today...if all goes well with the building permits we should be standing inside or not quite finished building by the end of December...a lot depends on how the weather holds.
Progress at last!

Hey R.T. If everything goes like it should (and it hasn't yet) we will have a shop warming the nite before Fred's meet(thursday) for all the early comers.
Hope anyone reading this can make it...Fred's meet will as always be a real "hands on" meet and well worth the trip (no matter where you are).
And our parties aint bad either!

Congrats Monte. Ya wanna race? I broke ground on 1250sq. ft. of shop on the side of the house in October....2000! All that's left now is the 12x14 garage door, soffits & gutters, insulation, heat& air. Built it with help from my friends ( boy do I owe some favors ). We did every thing but the excavating, I subbed the G-door, & the HVAC. I didn't intend to do so much myself, but had a real hard time gettin subs in to do the work. 8 yrs in the buildin' biz gave me the experience to handle the work. Time was such a huge factor! I needed the space so badly that as soon as the roof was done, I began using the space. Gotta get it buttoned up now, gettin a bit cool out there without the G-door/ insullation.
I'm wonderin if you've found you're gonna save a little $$ from the expected cost due to the droppin cost of money? We had set aside $16G and we'd hoped to get it done for near that amount. When it became apparent that wasn't gonna happen, the trip to the building & loan will wind up saving us almost $200/month!!
I assume you are locked into a construction loan for now, converting when complete? Hope you're as surprised as I was! This is where we were in Feb. 2000 Nah, I don't really want to race...
Good luck.
