Apply base coat enamel with a brush...then mix appropriate colors and apply with sponge..you can easily acquire a very realistic look this way...
Needless to say you will not be able to get a "Reflective" in this area!!!!!
Good Luck

That sounds like an Edge job to me. I have printed on 3M reflective with foils and recieved great results that usually reflective, depending on the color.
If you want, call me at the shop tomorrow, I'll try to help.

Kim, yes you can do it! I would cut the letters with the computer leaving space for your "rock" then draw your rock on and hand cut it. Apply it normally and hand paint a good size black outline. have about 6 cups of coffee before hand for that rough oultline look, making sure that you make it 'rough' but consistent. For a quick rock definition you can use a ripped piece of paper as a loose mask and mist it wih some light grey Krylon. again the more paint you apply to the reflective the less it will reflect. Bob is also right, I have done some reflective edge prints before, all the films are transparent so they all 'light up'

hah 6 cups of coffee calms me down! good ideas though, i'm going to either use sponge or i like the cut paper mask idea although i'm not sure exactly how that will go...
i'll call tomorrow and hopefully by then have an idea on what's best to do here. i have a few more days, the darn truck isn't even ready for lettering. they didn't expect me so soon.
i have some other edge print stuff i need done too. are you too busy?
thanks for the help everyone, i can't believe how helpful this darn town is!

I'm just getting back into the biz and I noticed you live not far from me. I was wondering if you'd mind if I dropped by your shop in Dighton to check this job of yours out and perhaps lend a hand?

Hi Kim... I am far from being an expert but I have done a rock in vinyl. I used the formica look vinyl from Avery. Kinda of hard to work with but no more than the reflective vinyl can be. Just another idea. Good luck...
