So I am renewing my subscription to Airbrush Action, and send them a Canada Post Money order in American funds for the subscription amount of 48.00 U.S.

I am unhappy to say that, my money order was returned with a note saying that their particular bank will not accept this money order from one of the largest public corporations in Canada!

Nor would AIRBRUSH ACTION get of their duff and attempt to cash it at their local US Postal outlet, which is guaranteed to do so! Instead they return it to me, and request one from another source. That will be the day.

What a glaring example of a basic lack of suscriber/customer service.

Ivan...I have run into that problem in some areas of the USA as well. My solution has been to forget about Postal money orders and get bank money orders in "Worldwide" U.S. funds. I have never had one of them refused.

The interesting thing is that I can take a personal cheque, given to me by an American and drawn on an American bank, and get it cashed at my bank for real U.S. dollars and nobody bats an eyelash.

I had a problem with a check drawn on a Canadian Bank in US$ last year. It turns out that the people at the bank didn't have a clue how to go about it getting it cashed, so it was returned. Since it was my business account, I kicked it up to their branch manager, then they took it higher and handled it. It seems laziness was the problem.

Most US banks are arrogant, notwithstanding advertising to the contrary. The people in the branches are all very nice, but there is rarely anyone in a branch with even as much decision making authority as a small businessman. Just one man's opinion.

Things are the same down here rave-on.

My wife went to our local mall to buy a gift certificate at the mall service counter. This certificate would be honored at any store in the mall.

Every store in the mall takes american express (the only card she has). So when the mall services rejected her by saying they only take visa or mastercard or cash for the certificate, she was out of luck.

They don't accept checks either. What a bunch of crap.

How about Interstate Bank who will NOT honor out of state checks drawn on their own bank!
Bank Of America once bounced a check of mine 3 times over a holiday weekend. Not my bank anymore, in fact I don't accept BofA checks at all.

Gotta share my story.

I had a check returned because the business I was trying to do business with said that they wouldn't accept a check from a foreign country.

Funny thing is, I don't live in a foreign country. I live in Albuquerque, NEW MEXICO!! I tried to explain that we are the 47th state in the Union but I guess they failed they're geography classes miserably.

Saddest part is...the business wasn't in Maryland or Maine (no offense Maryland or Maine) or any other state furthest from us, it was in Denver, 444 miles away. Anyway sorry to hear 'bout yer troubles.
