Just read that the ISA is sending a group to Washington to try and kill a bill that supports prisoners making all sorts of things;Including SIGNS! The prisoners ALREADY make Car Tags and other comodities used by the government. Why not signs? I would rather pay a little less taxes,if the government would "in house"produce $300.oo Hammers,$500.oo Toilet Seats and no telling how much from unscruppeless sign associations. As we already know, even a prisoner can produce Helvetica Highway Directional Signs. You don't suppose it is the Blue Sign Company with the monopaly as the ONLY ones allowed to advertise on the right of way do you? The sign industry is trying to over come the bad name that people like this are giving everyone including the Government. The license to steal is for the government and they get very jealous and pass laws to prevent anyone else from doing what they do best. What do you think?

The govt already hands large sign contracts to "special" groups, like Indians in southern Montana. NO ONE can bid against them and get a contract. The feds even buy the plotters and programs FOR them. Does it SUCK?????? Abso#@$%&$lutely! The feds are not only already anti-small business........they do everything they can to interfere in our livelyhoods. "Crowbar Motel" sign shops?? Damn right, Mr. Fed! Waddaya think guys?? Is this political??

I got a gov'm'nt job once, DOE job, Had to fill out 25 pages of stuff before I got it, and then I had to wait 90 days to find out I did the papers wrong, and another 90 to collect. The next time they wanted something I told them cash up front, needless to say, I did not get the job.

Tattoo artists don't complain that they do tattoos in prisons. And what about the gay activists? do ya think the prisoners are practicing safe sex?
Well, as long as the prisoners are happy and learning a good trade, thats one good thing that should take them a good distance when they get out. At least the government does not have to worry about not having enough money to buy a great plotter and sign program as its our money they are using. If this really worries others in the sign trade, they can always pick up a brush or a become a contractor since they already know to set sign posts in concrete!

One of the vocations that a prisoner can study in the Canadian Penal System is the trade of Locksmithing... In order to successfully pursue this trade, one of the very first things taught is How to pick a Lock. Now, this might just be very valuable information when one is released and finding a job is just a tad tough...they can get into burglary, with their new found knowledge.
Makes perfect sense to me...NOT!

Future generations might think all signwriters were former residents in a penal institution! After all, that's the only place that trains folks in the craft.

They say if a thief who will steal from a train boxcar, had he a college education he would steal the whole train. In prison or anywhere, one could learn how to master alot of things with the time they have. Some will sit and tell lies or stories, or some will put their mind to work. If for some weird reason say...like the movie with Tom Sellack, who went to prison for something he didn't do, ok folks what "would you do" while you had to be incarcerated beyond your control?
