My son paints helmets full time. I do the lettering and some of the striping, although he is doing more of the striping on his own lately. He does a lot of local dirt guys and a lot of out of town guys too. Names of note on the dirt late model circuit would be Terry English, Clint Elkins, Jeff Taylor, not exactly household names but famaliar to any "real" race fan. Right now he is working on helmets for the MARS racing series to be awarded to the points champions for 2000 and 2001 Terry Phillips and Bill Frye.

I've done the odd one now and then. I've been doing high end custom bikes for a number of years and every once in a while someone will get their helmet done as well. Recently I did a goalie mask up to look like spiderman. That was pretty cool.

Finally, I’m a real race fan. What are we suppose to do now that the Renegade Series finished up at Cherokee last weekend?? And congratulations to local boy Rick “Scrub” Eckert on capturing the 2001 UDTRA championship by 1 point!!

George, we need to talk racing sometime.

Real race cars don't have fenders, or vinyl lettering! I need to make up some decals, & t shirts with that! U heard it here first folks. Maybe I'll copyright that. George I saw a photo of the Doug Wolfgang #8 in a racin paper the other day. Still one of my all time favorites. The chrome (airbrushed) outline was very kool! I would love to see a good quality color photo of that. Maybe u could post one for us? Still racing here in Fla. I was at New Smyrna Speedway last night. Temps. in the mid 70s! Speedweeks will be here before you know it! Oh yeah, I've done a few helmets myself. WFO

Sorry if I slide off the subject here...but whats the latest on "Wolfy" since the fire?

He has been and will always be my number 1 favorite...only two guys in the whole world that can "back'em" into the corners as good as they can.

The other guy King Kinser of course!I sure miss seeing those two go head to head.

Monte, I tried e-mailing you but I guess you need to update your profile. Wolgang went through a lawsuit following the fire that turned a lot of the racing community against him. I believe it was settled out of court. He returned to the WOO briefly wilh little success. I don't keep up with sprint cars real well, I'm a LM fan, but I believe he is still racing 360's in the Dakota's.

Ryan,

Sorry for keeping this off topic!!

Luke,

Ouch!! Hey, wings, they go on airplanes right?

Monte,

Check out Wolfweld Chassis. I am one of the individuals that does not think very highly him. And it only increased in intensity during the entire suit. That aside, I have high praise for his driving talents and fabrication capabilities.

One of the best driving fabricators and innovators of all time though, IMHO, Kenny Weld!! Some people probably don’t think very highly of him either for his past personal history. Many, myself included, miss him!

George,

Got your email, I’ll respond. (It may be after the USSC show next weekend.)

Hey all. We dont get many open wheel racers in this area. We do get the hava tampa series here at the new track at Charlotte speedway with the ocasional World of Outlaws show but I havent been able to catch one yet. I love all forms of motersports but my main love is heads up streetcar style dragracing. I do alot of drag racers helmets becouse thats the crowd that I spend the most time with. I have a tube chassis, full interior, all steel. 68 AMC Javelin street car with a 434 ci small block chevy that I have been building for the last five years. Im 95 percent done. I could finish it if my buisness would alow me to work on it. Im glad to see so many gear heads hear in letterville. The reason im in this buisness is becouse of racing. My first drag race my dad took me to he gave me a camera to shoot a roll of film. After we got back he developed the film only to find close ups of air brushed headlights, taillights, lettering and naked women holding lightning bolts! Ive been hooked since then. Later
