Cool schtuff, Shawn. My critique would be that I find myself having to read left, right, up and down and my eye isn't drawn to any sequence or any one thing.

I agree with Pierre Shawn, the index page has alot of text on it. Most people won't take the time to read all of it. Maybe break it down more with less text. You do great work, and I like the way you have your samples layed out, but maybe the linked pics could be a tad bigger.
Play up your work, cause it's good stuff.

Shawn,

Way too much content on the front page, and you oughta move the links to the rest of your site towards the top of the page so they are more visible with less hunting required to find them.

If you want the search engines to pick up your site, scrap the java stuff because the search engines won't list your site with the java navigation. If the site is just for viewing by people you refer to it, it's fine as-is.

You might want to break your sample works up into categories so your visitors dont have to page through stuff they may not be interested in. Your web customers have the attention span of a snow pea so the sooner they can find the info they want the more likely you'll be to make the sale.. that is of course, if you want online sales.

So, is that Imo's Pizza in the Troy, MO area too? I love that stuff man, and Missouri is the only place you can get that cracker-thin crust. My favorite has to be the deluxe.. mmmmm mmmmm good schtuff!

Ditto what they said!
I came back to the bb to check your last name.
didn't think it was "Samples"
I'd change the title bar to avoid that confusion.
and that's nit-pickin!

yes the imo's is great!!!
the Stefanina's pictured has a real similar pizza, just home made and not all frozen crusts.
The pics are done that way for ease of upload, because if i make it a drawn out process for myself i'll never do it, I also thought it might spark a customer to notice something we do they didn't know about, I don't know how many times I've heard "I didn't know you did that!"
I think the info on the front page might be a little much too, but i'm hoping it'll make at least one person realize signs are more than just stickers on a board!!!

Thanks for the input and keep it coming!

Shawn

Shawn, I have to say, I really love the thumbnail gig you have going! (...in that, while viewing them, the "next" button is at the top and I don't have to scroll the page down each time I want to hit "next"!)

I have to agree with the rest of the guys on the overwhelming sense one gets on viewing that first page!

I think it's a great idea for you to show pics of your staff, however the slide show gig you used works really slow and leaves us looking at scrambled colors for as long as it does one of the pics. Maybe you could put the three pics up there next to each other with the names underneath them. (So the browsing individual doesn't think you just photographed 3 guys hangin out at the QuickieMart or sompn. hahaha!)

Your work is done very well, and I agree with the others again, give it more attention. Mike Pipes is not kidding about the snow pea IQ's and the attention spans are so short! You have a lot of very nice verbage on the first page, but the serious buyers will read that, you couldn't hide it from them if you tried. Use the pics, to catch the eye!

You've done an absolutely beautiful job getting your your schtuff compiled, now re-arrange it on the table so it flows.

One thing that helps is to get a legal pad and make an outline, kind of like a table of contents. Work your links to make sure you can get anywhere from everywhere and make it simple for the person who pulls your page up to get where they want to go, without getting distracted by sompn they don't need to see until they are so worked up about calling you they can't stand it! hahaha!

It'll be great when you get it organized! Keep up the good work!

i agree with the rest... your index page has enough info for about 5 pages... (my rule of thumb is to limit the text on any page to 250 words... and 125 is probably better).

your sample pages are excellent - they load quickly and its pretty easy to understand what to do next. my only suggestion for changing them is to change the project descriptions.

unless your customers are a LOT more sophistacated than mine, they probably don't know (or care) what Alumilite is. what they do want to know about is: how long did it take, what did it cost, how effective is it, how does the owner like it, and how long will it last. its only us sign folk who care about the products (and that's cuz we're used to seeing them described that way in the trade magazines).

oh yeah, and put the button link to your examples way up in the upper left hand corner of the home page... don't make them work to get to it. (grocery stores stick the milk in the back to force you to walk through the store because they know you HAVE to have the milk. people don't HAVE to look at your webpage).

Thank you all very much for the input, we will be reducing the amount of text on the main page and moving the button bar up higher on the page...Once again Thanks
