I am needing suggestions on applying vinyl on to a blue softside trailor. The canvas is currently white with the graphics having been painted with blue. The company is replacing all with blue canvas and wants white graphics. There is a 6' x 5' logo as well as lettering of 30" tall that runs 26'. Any comments will be greatly appreciated as this canvas is opened and closed so there are scrunches every 2 feet. Should this be painted instead of vinyled? Thanks Carol of Poplar Bluff, Mo. 573-785-8040.

I have lettered several of these soft side trailers. In my case they have been vinyl sides. Are the ones you refer to really canvas or vinyl?
If they are vinyl I feel that the only way this can successfully be done is with vinyl screen ink. I use Naz-Dar VF series ink and thinners. It can be thinned to a consistency that can be brushed or rolled. I do a lot of work for the local awning company and use this on vinyl awning lettering jobs as well.
Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if I can be of any help.

I've tried "vinyl banner paints" but they eventually start cracking off especially with the folding and pressure cleaning.
If you can get the sides before they are installed all the better. Its easier to do them flat as you can really thin the ink out and it will "bite" better.
White on Blue? I get best coverage results by cutting vinyl masks and spraying thin coats white ink ... its going to take at least two or three. You can put a drop of black in the white to increase your coverage. Although the ink will appear "light grey" it will look "white" on the blue background . Test first
