What is it? What is it used on on a car only.
I don't want to get into anything but cars for now. This is yet another suggestion from my husband. I've worked with gold leafing with crafts and plastercraft, but I can't imagine what you'd do on a car.
Look up at the top of this page for an item called "search"--- type in gold leaf and hit search. You should find 'most any information you want there. Good luck.

Educating you on Gold leafing on vehicles is more difficult then responding to a post.
Also your question is a little unclear to me. Are you asking how is it used on a vehicle, advertising wise or are you asking how it is applied to vehicles?
I highly recommend purchasing a book called " Gold Leaf Techniques" by Kent Smith.
That will cover it all.
Good Luck

Hello Theresa, Ditto what Bob said. Gold leafing on vehicles is typically done for lettering and striping. Gold is the premium standard for such work and requires one of the highest levels of skill. One should master the basic aspects of lettering or striping before tackling such a technical challenge. I agree that Kent Smith's book is the best resource and I highly recommend it.

First, we prep the entire car with Acetone, then we spray the entire car with Instacol, then we get a large fan and turn it on to high. Now this is the tricky part, put on a bathing suit, and oil yourself down real well, so as to catch any loose pieces floating around, next get in front of the fan, and then shake the book of gold so as to let the leaf fly towards the car, dont worry about the pieces that stick to yurself, because once you've covered the car entirly, you'll roll you body all over the car,"its very important to video tape it for us to see, so we might be able to give you pointers" Once you've finished the gild, get the clear nail polish and coat the gold.
Results very, so check the search engine for more information, especially when we are just joking for fun.
Good Gilding to you!
