I was reading the post made by steve where he he made a cool windshield painting with some purple paint.. I was wandering are there any more out there that can share their not so funny at te time but funny now stories....

A backwards "A" in the RCA logo.....DUH Kelvinator mispelled........OOPS! letters that fell off a banner.....DOH (and what was really funny was the lady calling to complain. She had the voice of a whiner. And she called with her nasal twang and said "the letters are falling off our banner and WE are TIRED of it!! When we went to paint logos on the ice for the Tampa Bay Lightning in September one of the new logos had an airbrushed looking halo around the letters. No problem, I cut out the letters in sintra so we could use a spray gun to halo it. Worked great, looked good. Unfortunately they don't have all the lights on while we paint and this logo was under the shadow of the scoreboard. What we didn't notice was that the air conditioning had taken the overspray out toward the center of the ice about twenty feet. Lots of scraping involved. Then this past week the newspaper whose logo it is decided it wasn't legible under the top layer of ice so they had it changed to just green copy. Ice is not a very forgiving substrate.

We have a local theatre company, Gloriana Opera Co. Around sixteen years ago they were performing an assemblage from their previous performances.
At the entrance to the city they had this sign installed advertising the event "Gloriana's Biggest Hits" There was this yellow background with big blue letters.
Well, being an early moring person, I snuck up to the sign around 4ish and measured the big letters. Later that day in my shop I cut another letter in blue, a big T, and stuck it onto a piece of yellow background.
Well the next morning came and I snuck up behind this sign at the intersection. I waited a couple lights till there were no cars or trucks there, and came around the front of the sign to cover the H. Stuck the vinyl on, squeeged it down, then dissapeared in the morning darkness back to my truck.
I drove out across the felds with my headlights off giggling like a little kid.
I went up the road and made a U turn to come back to face the sign and view my vandalism. I was the only car stopped at the red light, and while stopped I read the "Gloriana's Biggest Tits" and saw the vinyl actually slide down the sign and fall on the ground. Morning moisture? Act of God? I was the only one to enjoy this mischief.

1.Right on the middle of the showroom floor at a Pontiac dealership: "Boneville" 2. "Satifaction Guaranteed" on a Ford store, up a year and a half and even recoated. I spotted it on TV one morning while drinking coffee. They never noticed! 3. "For Infomation call....." duh... 4. "The Sunhine Street dealer" 5. Grand Openin Sale" in 13 foot tall letters, one each per panel. Golly, I have one panel left over...duh... 6. "Factory Warranty Remaing"...27 times on windshields in script. It looked ok. 7. "Go FART HER" The new Isuzu or Subaru tag line. There was a separation between the T and H. People were calling from the highway on their cell phones. 8. "Big Hardee" 24" tall letters. Ran out of white base coat at the "ee's" way up in rural Iowa. Had to leave and go get another gallon. Came back and was greeted by the hordes of angry locals and the sherrif. "Big Hard what, Presto?" I added the "ee's" and everybody laughed til the sides hurt.
Anybody have spellcheck for my quills and rollers?

Lettered a car for Kyle Petty one year at Darlington they wanted the colors changed on the decals.Looked great during the race but 2 days later get a call seems the paint never dried,....you would think it would have air dried at 200 mph down the backstretch,....

Speaking of the Chiefs...last year I did 36 Grocery stores with a purposeful campaign: "Go Chefs!". It was supposed to play off the Snickers ad and emphasize the Chefs as a joke and an attention getter. They sell groceries to people who cook. After doing 15 stores, I got the call from the Ad director who said they had received many, many complaints, since the Chiefs had just lost their third game and the chain was being perceived as a drag on the team spirit, I was immediately ordered to go back and add the letter "I", which was a real pain. Despite the fact that only three days before, the Ad director was so toward and for my 'out of the box' thinking, he became quite difficult over this deal and it caused much strain to the huge account. Phone calls became difficult to have returned, payment was tricky to get handled and even the cleaners ahead of me complained of difficult payment. I did exactly what we agreed to and once the baloney hit the fan, suddenly things were irrepairably tarnished. My experience in this really taught me to never slam a town's team spirit again and this incident was so over-the-top with the client's change of heart that I have had to serioulsy rethink the efforts of this huge account. My advice: Install spellcheck on all brushes and rollers! You can never underestimate the impact of a customer's lack of intelligence or humor.

WE LETTERED A LOCAL LOCKSMITH VAN OVER TWO (2) YEARS AGO. THEY STOPPED IN LAST MONTH AND TOLD US THE WORD RESIDENTIAL WAS SPELLED WRONG - POINT IS - IT TOOK TWO YEARS FOR ANYONE TO NOTICE! EVERYONE FAILED THAT TEST!

Only 1 spelling mistake in 12 years! Did a hamburger stand menu about 18 months ago. On the kids menu we put the line "with every kids meal you get a free suprise". Took about 15 months before anyone noticed. Customer kind of likes it that way. Lets him know if the customers are paying attention!
