Hi Adrienne!

As I heard it, MIME is an AOL or Mac compression format for e-mailed files or pics. Do you have a Mac? You need Aladdin's Stuffit Expander. I think you can download a free version from Apple.com. If you have a PC. . . sorry, I can't help you!

The Internet was not designed to carry binary (program and other non-text files) files. It is able only to transfer messages made up of conventional text (printable ASCII) characters. In order to get around that limitation, UUencode and other methods were created.

These solutions all perform the same basic operation: they encode the non-transferable binary file into ASCII characters that the e-mail system can handle. The person receiving the message can then decode the strings of characters to recreate the original file.

MIME is an UUencoded or XXencoded format. We recommend using a utility such as WinZip or ARJ to perform the re-encoding needed to use these files. An evaluation of WinZip (for Windows) can be downloaded at www.winzip.com (it can be purchased for $29).

Howard...did you understand any of that??!!!!

If so, please come over here and explain it to me!!!

I see it had something to do with AOHELL, or Macs both of which I hate, so.....guess it wasn't anything important

I preview all emails in Eremove before downloading. If you read the properties of these emails, they all say MIME format if I'm correct, or perhaps more correctly, all the pictures attached.

I have no idea what it is, but apparently it's nothing to worry about because I can open everything named with that.

PC user here.

Yup, I bet they are....sure wish I had a clue as to what it all means....it's ok, it's usually a forwarded joke anyway.

If I ever get anything that looks important I'll send it to a mac user on aol for interpretation
