Does anyone know how to upload a 'form' onto a site, successfully thru Microsoft Front Page. I am designing it fine and I obviously have some glitch as it keep 404-ing on me, using CuteFTP. It went thru one time, but I could not get it to return it back to me when I filled it out and another time it just would not get past the 'Page not found-404".
Is the upload via Front Page easy and has anyone done any 'forms' to be sure it works? I guess I have to use the MS FP uplink? Is there some good help site for MS FP?

I had the exact same problem and have as of yet not had the time to follow the directions that were given...but they (the web server) said you have to go to the site through ftp...cut and paste the document from your frontpage layout and paste it to the online version...does that make since?

I did it once and screwed it up and have been unaible to get back to it.

bottom line...the host server can direct your question...seems they don't have the capability of processing the form without going thru the procedure I mention.

Hope that helps a little...I am a newbie to website building too!

when you FTP files to a FrontPage site, dont forget about the special directories on the server that FP requires.

My site has front page extensions however I use Dreamweaver for design now (I dont like FP any more).. but since my server does have the FP extensions I have to upload into the directories that FP actually serves up.

Say my root site (in FTP) is ftp.stickerpimp.com
The front page directories on my site are in another folder called WWWFP.. so when I connect to FTP, I have to go to ftp.stickerpimp.com/wwwfp and THAT'S where all my public files are.

When the FP extensions serve up your web pages to the visitors, they dont see the wwwfp part.

When you upload via FrontPage you dont see the wwwfp directory, but you do when you FTP into the site.

Other than that, I never had a problem uploading forms to my site when I did use front page a couple years ago...
I do know that a form created with front page is a different monster than a form created with any other web authoring program on the planet. FrontPage uses some special coding in its forms that utilize corresponding features of the FrontPage server extensions.

Hope that helped or didnt confuse you any more..

Preston,
Below is a form on a page that I did in Frontpage
http://rocolqld.com/HTML/testing.htm
It works fine.
There are a couple of things that I would guess will influence your form working or not.
Are Frontpage server extensions enabled at your web host?
Upload using File/Publish in Frontpage as oposed to ftp'ing them.
Try saving the page as a .asp instead of a .htm
Check the page settings on the form to be sure they are set to report to a specific email address.
These are just the first things that come to mind.
My best guess is definitely to use the Frontpage upload facility though.

If you think I can help, email me via the address below.
Besides being an html hog, Frontpage is (IMHO) not a bad all-in-one package if treated properly.
HTH,
David
